Zcyhie Elizabeth's POV

I fasten my pace as the alarming siren in the distance, flashing red and blue lights, signaled. The door burst opened the moment I walked through the doors of the emergency room. A lone hospital stretcher with a pale patient were pushed by several nurses and doctors. I held tightly at Clement's hand, trying to warm him up. My heart sank the moment it reached through the operating room.

Confusion, cries, and humors filled the four corners of the emergency room of Equinox Trussville Hospital. I gazed towards my surroundings. Six blue seats on either side of the room lined perfectly, without any back support as the soft fabric touched my skin. I sat in the one farthest to the entrance of the room, trying to calm my nerves and my heart.

I found myself staring at the harsh white light from the streetlamp outside the entrance. The light was facing directly in my eyes. It has no use to squint or shut my eyes completely as the darkness behind my eyelids could not hide me from where I am. I tried to squint but the harder I tried, the more I could hear the sounds of chaos around me. I glanced towards the wall clock; it was already eight in the evening.

My ears caught the moans from the patients waiting to be seen by the tired doctors and nurses. I glanced towards my right, the mother was scolding her son as he continuously poked at the accidental wound he received at home, blaming their pets. I shut my eyes momentarily, feeling the soft breeze from the entrance. When I opened my eyes, these people seemed to increase. While I seated at the corner, away from them, these people enjoyed sitting at the blue contrast of the pastel walls that seemed to say, "It's alright. What could go wrong in a room covered in light blue roses?"

From the corner of my eyes, I raised my eyebrows as I saw the blood on the forehead of a small girl directly across me. Her whimpering voice echoed around the corner, making me, winched. I glanced at the entrance as I saw a mother holding her baby with a continuous cough. A man sat as stiff as a board while he held his arm at an angle across his chest.

My knees were wobbling in fear. Terror overtook my face as I waited for the result of the operation. This is way too much to handle. The distant sirens closing in on the hospital took me backward.

I was taken aback from my deep thoughts when I saw Carmen, a nurse, came out. "Zcyhie Fleuvis?"

I stoop up as I approached her. I slid my trembling fingers into my pocket as I gaze at her.

"The patient woke up. We'll be performing the bone marrow transplant, and I thought, he might need someone," she said straight.

It was as if I had a lump formed on my throat, but then it vanished away. "And? How is he?" I said, wiping the sweaty palms on my hand.

"I don't know but I assure you, we're doing our best," she said. Her eyes where beamed with assurance. I nodded, clenching my fists as my heart pounding fast.
