Zcyhie Elizabeth's POV
My face numbed, my hands cringed and a shudder of chills, sent down from my spine. The wind made any cold nearly unbearable, and maybe, the chill factor may be below zero. Perhaps it was because of the medicine that I took or from these bruises that I have. The breeze brushed through my bare skin, as police sirens lingered around the four corners of the dank room.
"Evans," I mumbled as I saw Evans wiping his blood from the corner of his lips. Clement stood there with a grin on his face, with a red liquid dripping from his temple. Glass were scattered around the cold concrete floor.
At a blink of an eye, they were throwing punches to each other. And there I am, I just stood there, watching, frozen at my place. The late evening was beautiful with its borderless flow of clarity: the vast, seemingly empty sky stretched out for infinity. The sky smothered the scene with a thickly threaded blanket, melting over the corners of the horizon but now the sun was rising, spreading the light.
"Dwayne." I saw his veins almost popping out from his face as his teeth gritted and his fist clenched.
Evans raised his chin, ducked as Clement threw another punch. "You don't deserve Zcyhie," Clement said.
A punch landed on Clement's face, but he just laughed, wiping the blood.
"Neither do you!" Evans said as he chuckled, but his eyes were burning with fire.
I glanced towards my side; Fort was busy cheering up for Clement. "Dumbass, what are you doing?" I asked.
I was about to walked towards them when a hand took my wrist.
"Chie, are you quite sure you can do this?" Fort said with a serious expression on his face. "I mean look at you." He added, looking at me from head to toe.
"I'm perfectly fine," I said, letting out a deep sigh. He forcefully grabbed my left wrist and eyed me. He was about to utter another word, but I cut him off. "I told you to fuck off!" I yelled.
I pulled my hand and stood straight, as I patted his back. "I'll end this, Fort."
His forehead ceased, his eyes gleamed worry. I smiled at him, flashing a reassuring smile, and said, "Trust me."
I swiftly ran towards Clement when I saw Evans snatching a thing on his left pocket. But Evans pivoted his feet and clung his arms around my neck. I heard a hissed.
Clement's eyes darted on me, a line appeared between her brows and in a dark, cold voice, he said, "Hold your fires." I shook my head, trying to recompose myself.
"What are you doing Evans?" I remained still as he dragged me away from them.
He was fighting back his tears, and in a broken voice, he whispered, "Believe me, I'm trying to fight back."
