My eyes landed towards the old trees bordering the cliff, as if guarding the forest. I closed my laptop as I have finished writing my book, 'Sleepless Nights'. I smiled and placed it on my side. I could still clearly remember that this was the exact same location Clement have saved me.
The swinging of branches as the wind gently blew them, muffled inside my ears, creating a peaceful haven for my soul. I glanced towards the entrance, a narrow path that gradually opened as it ran through the field and a small park.
I stretched my legs in front of me, still locking my gaze through the fainting light rising from the ground until it reached the horizon. I snatched up the two letters I received from them. I opened the letter from Clement. It was from the same day we went to the cemetery and had fun.
If you are reading this, it is either I am still alive or barely breathing. You see, the first time I met you, I found you throwing tantrums. I had fun, knowing the true Lychee. If only, I woke up after the chemo. Perhaps, I would never lose you. But then, I found you again... back at the cafeteria. I begged to your grandfather to match our schedules and he approved that.
The funny thing was, I asked for your hand, but he grabbed his riffle instead and pointed his gun at my head. Believe me, I almost peed at my pants and wished I never done that. But because of my heavenly looks, he approved once again. But fate seemed to disagree. I am deeply sorry if I cannot stay. I know you will find someone who will love you all throughout.
But always remember to trust Clement. I swear to self that I'd always love thee. I wast halt lost but then, thee halt found me. I will be forever your angel in your twelve thirty-four. In Clement, you trust.
"Asking wherefore I loveth thee ev'ry day. From mine own soul promised to always stay," I mumbled with a cracked voice and a pounding heart. I looked up as I burst into tears, reading word for word his very last message.
You never fail to make me happy and cry at the same time.
I wiped my tears away and smiled as I recalled the past. I shifted my eyes towards the forest that seemed to never end. I kept the unread letter and the letter from Dwayne on my pocket. There were tall silhouettes shadowing the ground. The trees were full of different types, thin birches, maples and tall sycamores.
Their long branches intertwined creating a golden canopy over the path. Rustling of leaves as birds fluttering among them, was whistling merrily to each other. I walked towards the beautiful white anemones which symbolizes protection from evil. I smiled. It has been months.
I miss you, Dwayne.
I looked around, rays of lights were shone through the gaps in the leaves, covering the floor in dapped sunlight. I inspected how a gentle wind blew through the branches causing sycamore seeds went spiral down to the carpet of grass. I stood up, dusting off my pants, grabbing my laptop bag.
I glance straight ahead towards the young gray cat observing a white butterfly before scampering down the gnarled trunk. It meowed before it looked round scurrying up the path.
I walked towards the center of the park, searching for a food to eat. Two excited children ran out of the sneaky playground gate and down the other side. They raced ahead towards the swing, giggling happily. "Hurry up!" one yelled, her face flushed red.
I sat at one of the wooden benches as I reached the center. I could see everyone doing their jobs, children were happily playing. My eyes landed on a woman in white, watching enviously as the boys rushed around the wishing fountain as he threw a coin. I was distracted by the woman's flowery dress. As the wind blew, it flapped softly below her knees. I grabbed my alcohol and sanitized my hand.
