My pack and I shot our heads up in the direction of the thunderous explosion that happened not to far on the other side of the Black Rock. I could faintly hear the warning howl drift through the air. Dark smoke floated languidly into the air.
Its been several weeks since I returned Vantoka to her rightful home. Since then there have been Kymari shuttles flying close to where the Black Rock was, only to malfunction and crash. The first time it happened it sent most of the Kaydenstrids into a panic.
It bacome a normal occurance over time. It was just strange, because none of us could figure out why it happened. I personally think it had something to the Black Rock, after all it had a strong magnetic field. But even then, the Kymari's tegnology couldn't possibly be beat by a simple magnectic field.
I glanced at the two pups playing tug-of-war with a piece of bone. My own bone rested over my legs that I've been slowly chewing over the day. The frequent crashes chased most of the prey away from our hunting grounds and we had to travel farther than normal to hunt. It became more difficult for me to bring back food twice a day.
The prey were moving further away and closer to the cities. We were smack dab in the middle of three large cities, but they never bothered us untill now. I wish we could tell them to stop because it was ruining our chances of survival.
It was only a matter of time before things become worse.
I felt a tug from the Main Mind link and quickly tuned into it. It was quiet but I could tell there were others and more joining in. I could tell William joined but Melissa couldn't since she kept her full attention on the pups.
"My name is Sayid. I would like to make a request." I allowed my intrest to flow into the link. Many others did the same to signal him to continue. "Thank you for your attention. I would like to ask if all availabe Kaydenstrids to accompany me to the hunting grounds. There and seven pups in my pack and we don't have enough food to feed everyone. So I request that we make hunting parties and help each other in this time of crisis."
I immidiatly stepped into the conversation. "I agree." I swallowed a bit nervously when I felt the attention shift to me. "It would be impossible for me to travel that far, hunt and drag multiple prey back. Plus, this would better our chances in survival."
Murmers broke into the link, until a fimiliar voice spoke up. "We could leave the mated pairs to look after the pups while the rest of hunt." William said.
"Maybe a few could patrol the outer ring of the wall." I smiled a bit when I heared Craig's voice. Its been a while since I've spoken to him. He and Alex stuck together and helped break up the fight a few years ago.
A lot seemed to agree. Then Sayid's relieved voice spoke again. "Can all the Kaydestrids willing to help come to the Thin Wall as quickly as possible?"
Agreements rung out and I hastily bit and ate half of my bone before I dashed off in the direction of the thin part of the thorn wall. A few Kaydenstrids from territories close to mine joined me and we hurriedly made our way over.
When I arrived there was already around fifty there. I saw Sayid, a wild dog (like me) with more black covering his fur than mine, in front of the wall. I stood close and perked my ears in attention. We waited a few moments before plans burst forward.
We decided that that half of the group would patrol and protect the territory and the other half would go hunting. When we arrived back, we would swap rolls. I was with the first hunting group. We all split into groups of five but stuck close together.
I glanced at my group. I was the only female, wow shocking, none of the other Kaydenstrids with me were fimiliar. I flicked my gaze back in front of me and traveled behind my group.

I was crouched low a couple feet away from a sheepdog. There was a large flock of ox-like aliens. They were large and taller than most of us, but that didn't matter if two Kaydenstrids targeted one. I glanced at the male, Hazel, and saw him nod at me.
I crept closer and without a second of hesitation, launched myself at my prey and sunk my theeth into its meaty rump. It balked in pain and started bucking in an attempt to dislodge me. Its attempt were futile when Hazel leapt onto its back, causing it to bolt.
I suck in my teeth and claws deeper in an attempt to stay on, I only succeeded to rip of a large chunk of its flesh. I grimaced at it loud, pain filled bellow before running after it. I saw Hazel sink his fangs into the back of its neck.
When the ox alien faltered I jumped onto its back and tried to knock it over, but it only made it trip and run right into a tree. The tree cracked and groaned. I yelped as the sudden halt sent my flying and slammed my back into the tree.
I wheezed as I hit the ground and watched with blurrly eyes as Hazel quickly killed the ox. I sighed and pushed my legs under me. My body shook in pain and my legs barely held my weight. Hazel looked at me in worry and was about to ask if I was ok before his eyes widened in pure terror.
I felt my stomach drop when I looked behind me.
There stood over a dozen Kymari with weapons pointed at us and well conceled horror. I blinked and tensed my muscles. I looked back at Hazel, feeling fear course through my veins.
"RUN!"
Hazel quickly dashed off, prey forgotten. I was about followed but an intense pain shot down my back. I yelp when I tumbled to the gound. I growled lowly and tried my hardest to clear my vision. I stood up again but it seem the world and tail has given up on me. I lost my balance and slipped on the mud.
I snarled loudly as the Kymari approached me. Like hell I was going to die like this! My tail and hair flared up and I fully exsposed my fangs with a angry snarl. A few faltered but quickly went towards me.
I felt another wave of pain attack my body and my eyes went black. I felt myself slump and my concious fade me.
No no no no nO NO NO!
