we are glued
to pieces of glass
sitting on top of metal
and flashy lights.
we are glued
to things that make us laugh
the things we see
in our tiny light boxes of wonder.
we are glued
to our control,
because without it
we fall.
we are glued
to the way we look
standing in the mirror,
hating our faces.
we are glued
to the past,
even though we constantly worry
about the future.
we are glued
to our ways,
even though we want to believe
we are free.
