Save Me
"You know how when you were a kid and you believed in fairy tales? That fantasy of what your life would be. White dress, Prince Charming, who'd carry you away to a castle on a hill. You'd lie in bed at night and close your eyes, and you had complete and utter faith. Santa clause, tooth fairy, Prince Charming, they were so close, you could taste them. But eventually, you grow up. One day you open your eyes, and the fairy tale disappears. Most people turn to the things and people they can trust. But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairy tale entirely. Cause almost everyone still had that smallest bit of hope, of faith, that one day they'll opened their eyes, and it will all come true."
Derek walked into the room and smiled at me. I watched him as he placed on his cardigan and grabbed his toothbrush before heading back into the bathroom. I raised my eyebrow and stood up and followed him.
"So, let's go sleep at your trailer tonight." I said and Derek turned around and looked at me confused.
"What?" Derek asked and I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Why are we always sleeping at my house? I've seen the trailer before. You don't need to be embarrassed about it." I said and Derek smiled before grabbing his bag and walking out of the bathroom. I followed him down and we walked into the kitchen to see George, Izzy and Meredith.
"Good morning." Derek said all excited placing his bag down.
"You guys want a cupcake?" George asked. Derek and I shook our heads.
"I like it here. You said yourself, you liked having your things around, sleeping in your own bed." Derek said grabbing the cereal out of the cupboard. I signed.
"Your like a health nut, aren't you? You eat muesli every morning." George said and I chuckled as Derek grabbed out the milk.
"No I don't." Derek said before walking over and sitting back at the table.
"Ok, the muesli thing, you do. The last seven days, at least." Izzy said backing George up. I smiled.
"Oh come on. I haven't been here a whole week. Have I?" Derek asked and Meredith nodded.
"See? We all think it's weird." Meredith commented and I chuckled. "You not going to have breakfast?" Meredith asked me and I shook my head.
"Evie has never been one for breakfast, just a coffee and then she'll be on her way to work and probably eat lunch at 10:00 and have dinner at midnight." Derek replied for me. Izzy and Meredith looked at me with eyes that said 'aww' I coughed and smiled.
"That's me." I said before standing up and collecting my things and walking to the front door. "I'm leaving. See You's at the hospital." I yelled before opening and closing the front door behind me and leaving for work. I walked into Devo's room and smiled at her and Dr. Karev.
"Karev." I said waiting for him to speak.
"17 year-old female hospitalised for excessive bleeding, status post root canal. Also had a significant new heart murmur associated with fever. Now afebrile on antibiotics." Alex said and I nodded reading over her chart.
"If I'm gonna die, can you page my mum and dad?" Devo asked and I shook my head.
"You're not dying. Where are your parents?" I asked looking up realising they weren't here.
"In the cafeteria. My freak father likes hospital food." Devo said and I chuckled softly. I nodded.
"You're in excellent hands here. Dr. Karev is gonna run some labs. And I'll see you with your parents in a little while. Add a bleeding time to the coags." I said before turning and leaving the room. I turned the corner and started walking with Derek.
