The men stuck around in the village to and tried to think of a way of bringing order to the place, seeing that the villagers didn't have a great system in place. The men had come up with a way that the village could find a good leader without having hundreds within a year, and without having to kill each other to gain the position.
This was the plan. Every year the village would have a tournament, volunteers would fight in order to try and move up the line, the person who got to the top would face the current leader to see if they were capable of taking his place. No one had to die during the tournament, all it took was to either knock out or disarm your opponent. After a few minutes of explaining the system and answering a few questions the villagers had to ask, the system was now in place.
"Are there anymore questions?" Valor asked the village, receiving no further enquiries."Good....the first tournament will begin tomorrow." Valor stayed to the villagers and everyone gasped, looking at each other in shock and fear. "No listen, before anyone makes any assumptions, it is voluntary, no one has to join the tournament, yes it's dangerous but I'm sure you already know that." Valor explained. "If anyone wished to volunteer, then please speak to me or one of my friends, have a good day all of you." Valor said as the men walked back to their home.
Kirin wasn't sure about this new idea, since the people would constantly be against each other because of it. Curtis also wasn't thrilled with it but he knew that there was no other way.
"This is mad, all we are doing is starting a civil war, these people will have no trust amongst each other." Kirin objected to Valor, as Curtis stood up and spoke.
"Kirin, I'm not 100% with it either, but these people need a worthy leader, not some mildly successful serial killer, there's no better way of doing this." Curtis explained and Kirin agreed, retreating to his quarters not to be seen for the rest of the day.
And so the tournament began. The men had 4 volunteers, who they had all examined and deemed fit enough to fight in the tournament. The volunteers were Akram, a tall strong hunter that was the oldest of the bunch. There was Venus, a female village guard who was frequently discriminated against because of her gender. There was Markus, who was scarred all over and missing an eye. And there was Samson, a short muscular man that worked as a farmer. These volunteers would fight each other and who ever won would face the current head of the village in order to take his place.
The first match was Akram versus Markus, and all the villagers were there to watch. The battle would be overseen by the Order of Jade just to make sure things didn't get out of hand, killing was only allowed if it was against the head of the village. And so it began, the fight had started and Akram jumped at Markus screaming at the top of his lungs, Markus however shoved him to the side, knocking him down. Markus then went in for a hit, and managed to land a strike on Akrams shoulder, causing it to start bleeding rapidly, and Akram was screaming in pain. The order then quickly stepped in and stopped the fight, deeming Akram unfit to continue.
"Alright Markus that's enough!!!" Bjorik shouted as he ran to him."What did we tell you, no killing other volunteers." Bjorik explained to Markus, as Markus turned and looked at him with his one good eye. He then dropped his weapon and walked away, leaving the next fight to take place.
It was now Venus and Samson's turn to fight. Venus was a tall woman, standing at about 6 feet tall, while Samson was considerably shorter at about 5 foot 6. The battle begun, and Samson charged at Venus picked her up and throwing he against the wall, injuring her, but not knocking out. Venus then threw a strike a Samson's head, hitting him and causing it to start bleeding. The battle lasted a few more minutes and Venus came out on top, knocking Samson to the ground and hitting his head off of the ground. Venus lowered her weapon and walked away without the order from Bjorik, and the decider could begin.
Now Venus would face Markus, in an attempt to try and earn a match against the head of the village. They stood in front of each other before the match started, shaking hands before walking back and starting. They walked in a circle of a few seconds looking at each other before throwing any hits, Markus then tried to use his sword but Venus threw a kick before he could do that, knocking him down.
"Your tougher than I thought." Markus said to Venus, as Venus smiled at him.
"Thanks, you don't look like a charmer." Venus laughed holding her guard as Markus stood up.
"Yeah I get that a lot." Markus said as he ran towards Venus, picking he up and throwing he into the air, Venus then came falling down, Markus threw here really high, so higher the other villagers gasped. She then landed on the floor and later there unconscious. Markus then ran to her dropping his weapon and waking her up.
"No hard feelings?" Markus asked her as Venus laughed.
"Haha, you know, if you become the head of the village, you wanna go for a drink?" Venus asked and Markus started laughing.
"Absolutely, now I'm pumped." Markus shouted in happiness as he took Venus to the side and prepared for the final fight against the head of the village.
"Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for the final battle, to see if Markus will take place as the new leader, or if Carlton will keep his rank, let the battle, COMMENCE!!" Bjorik shouted.
And Carlton walked into the fighting ring wearing every last bit of amour he could find, the armour wouldn't stay on because he had no muscle on him and was just a skinny frail little man."I SURRENDER, PLEASE I SURRENDER." Carlton shouted begging for his life, Markus turned around in confusion not knowing what to do. Bjorik walked out into the ring and spoke to Carlton.
"Is that an official resigning of power?" Bjorik asked, and Carlton reluctantly answered.
"Yes." He said trembling through his tears.
"Then ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, YOUR NEW LEADER!!!" Bjorik shouted lifting Markus' arm up and the village cheered. Markus looked happier than ever and waisted no time going to talk to Venus.
"So....how about that drink" Markus said to Venus with a cheeky grin on his face.
"Your on." Venus answered, and they walked away together to a bar.
"I like that guy." Valor said.
"Yeah, reminds me a lot about us." Curtis replied.
And the men returned to their home, finally in the hands of a good leader.
