(Bjoriks POV)
I stood there for a second, blankly looking at my mother's bloody corpse. I lifted my blade which was now broken, and threw it to the side, eager to think of what I would do next.
My dad would come back and see his wife murdered there on the floor, and his son missing, I had to do something. I wasn't the smartest of people, but I had connections around the city, connections that could get me out of this. Abused by my mother for so long, I grew up fast, I had ways of getting around in case of emergency, I never thought however I would have to result to this."I need to leave, I need to see Javik, he can help me." I said to myself in my head, breathing heavily, my heart nearly beating out of my chest. My conscience clawing from inside me, weighing me down. My mums voice audible in my head, louder than a Viking boat drum, ringing, one beat after the other.
I limped my way to the door, leaving the body behind, along with my blade. Looking back that wasn't the best idea, the people would have known it was me if they saw MY blade lying there on the floor. But I was young, only 12 years old, mentally older but not old enough. I grabbed a few things that I wanted to take with me. I took one of my dads short swords which he hid in his cupboard, I also took one of his shields just to be safe. In a flash I bolted it out of the door, not locking to door behind me, knowing I wasn't going to willingly return there. I spoke to myself as I ran to one of my contacts houses, ignoring my breathlessness I ran faster and faster.
"I can't stop, I can't, this'll all be over soon." I once again said in my head as I ran, carrying the weapons I took with me, civilians looking behind them in confusion as I bumped in to some of them running. I ignored them and continued, my legs beginning to stiffen up as I ran, exhausted and aching after running so far so fast.
There I arrived, an abandoned brewery where my friend lived, I went to training sessions with him, he also planned to join the army when he was older. He however had no parents, he was alone all his life, clueless of his origins. I walked up to the door, and stood there for a second, rethinking my decision, contemplating on weather I should go through with this. The thoughts went through my head 'Army soldiers son kills his mother and disappears' rushing through he city. I made my mind up. I knocked on the door, knocking once, knocking twice. I stood there, hoping the door wouldn't open, so I would have no choice but to leave and find another solution. The door opened, from the shadows a skinny and frail looking boy came out, it was Javik.
"Bjorik?" Javik asked, looking me right in the eye in amazement. I nodded, forcing a smile on my face.
"Yeah it's me, I need your help." I said directly, wiping the smile off of Javiks face, confusing him.
Right where I stood, a fist flew right into my face, knocking me to the ground. I got on my knees and sat there for a second, coming to terms with what happened, wiping blood off of my face, looking up to see my friend standing there. He was angry, full of hatred, willing to kill me.
"You do, I thought I was a fiendish little swine who deserves nothing more than to burn in my own home." Javik told me, embarrassing me. Making me feel like I was being beaten by my mom again. The feelings ran through me faster than lightning, determining my answer.
"Javik, we're Vikings, my dad is a solider in the army, my mother was abusive, what did you expect from me, kindness?" I asked, confident in my predicament. Javiks facial expression changed, his eyes slightly closed and his eyebrows crossed. His demeanour wasn't as bloodthirsty as it was a second ago.
"Was abusive?" He repeated in suspicion. My heart started to rush in fear, I had no choice but to admit to him what I had done. I began to talk, fearing for my life at this point, hoping he wouldn't start to scream for help. I stood up, composing myself, getting ready to spill the beans to him.
