Jacob POV

I saw her in a coffee shop.

She was sitting at a table at Starbucks and I happened to be there too.

Coffee helped me to relieve the stress that I was going through right now. It was family issues that were kinda painful to think about.

Before driving to Starbucks, I asked my friend, Colton if he wanted to go with me to Starbucks. He said no, of course. He seemed to always spend time with his new girlfriend, Abigail. I didn't really like her. She wore extremely tight clothing, put on heels where ever she went, had bleached hair and tons of make up on. And her voice was squeaky and high pitched. Like a mouse. Only it sounded fake.

Personally, I don't like girls like that, but at my school, those were the kind of girls there. And it seemed like Colton had fallen head over heels with one.

Driving to Starbucks, I gripped the steering, feeling anxious. I was always feeling anxious these days, so it wasn't anything new.

I parked the car, stuffed my keys in my jean pockets and walked to the door. The scent of rich coffee filled my nose once I opened the door. I closed my eyes just for a second, savoring it. Then I opened my eyes.

And saw her there.

All I could notice was her looks. I know, it sounds shallow but it was true. She was beautiful. And not in an all makeup kind of way. Actually, she wasn't wearing any makeup at all. And her eyes. They were a deep brown, like chocolate. And her long hair was almost the same color. I bet I reached almost to her waist. Her lips were a shade of light pink and she had a light tan.

She was sitting at a table near the window, her phone in her hand. It looked like the something she was doing was important because her eyes were only on the screen.

"Hey! Can you please move?" a gruff voice spoke behind me, snapping me from my trance.

I turned around to face a man with a big scruffy beard. His breath reeked of cigars. Normally, I would have told that guy to back off, but today, I was feeling a little dazed.

"Oh, sorry," I mumbled and stepped aside.

When I turned back around to the front, I saw her at the stand, waiting for her coffee. Dang it! I didn't even get to hear her name.

Since I was still standing at the entrance, I took at seat at a small table.

"Okay," I told myself, "you are going up to that girl to say hello, don't be a sissy."

I took a deep breath, got up and started walking to her. She was at the cream and sugar station, pouring a packet of sugar into her drink. Wasn't it already sweet?

I stood behind a few feet behind her, waiting for her to finish. Suddenly, she turned around and speed walked straight toward me, which caught me off guard. My instinct told me to move, but I was frozen to the floor.

She rammed into my chest, sending her and the coffee flying toward the floor. I stumbled backward from the impact, but held my ground. When I stabilized myself, I looked downward to see her sprawled on the floor, in a pool of steaming coffee. Her hands looked really red. She looked around, her brown eyes full of embarrassment. I instantly felt bad.

But the most intelligent thing I came up with to say was: "Um, hey, are you ok there?"

She finally looked up at me and squeaked:" Uhh, yeah, I guess." Her voice was like honey, smooth and sweet.

"Here, let me help you up." I wasn't going to let her just sit there and burn herself more in that coffee.

I grabbed her right wrist because I thought that her hand hurt from the burn. I yanked her upward and and she wobbled to her feet. She was a good few inches shorter than me. I was 5.11", so she must have been at least 5.6". She also had a few freckles dusting both of her cheeks.

I met her eyes, and hers looked unfocused. I was getting a little worried.

"Hey, are you seriously okay?" I asked

"My hands just hurt a lot." she sniffled. "I should call my dad."

She bent over to pick up her purse, then winced when she touched it. Wow, she must have burned herself pretty bad. Then, right there, I decided that I was going to take this girl home.

"Ok," I said. "But I could take you home you know. I mean, you're a mess and your hands look like balloons."

I was so sensitive.

"Fine," she said. "But how are you going to get home."

I smirked. "I'll just jog. I'm not helpless you know."

She raised an eyebrow.

"Let's go," I said quickly

I turned and walked out the exit with her following behind me. Then she took the lead and led me to her car. She opened the door and tossed me the keys. I caught them, and them climbed in to the drivers seat while she got in the passengers seat. I started the car and backed out onto the street.

"Sooo," she said. "What's your name?"

"Um why would I tell you? You're a stranger." I said defensively.

"But you're driving this complete stranger back home." she shot back.

Ok, that got me there. She was smart.

"My name is Jacob Carter." I sighed

"I'm Kendall Jones."

Kendall was a rare name. I hadn't heard it a lot but I liked it.

"There," she pointed to the house on my left. It was a large house and had many well kept flowers on the front lawn.

I pulled into the driveway and parked the car. I got out and tossed the keys to Kendall. She fumbled for them, but they dropped at her feet. I saw her cheeks turn red and she bent down to pick the keys up.

"So, I guess this is goodbye," I said slowly. I honestly didn't want to go.

"Yeah, well thanks for bringing me home Jacob, I appreciate it." She smiled. She had very pretty smile.

I nodded, then turned on my heels and walked down the driveway to the side walk, feeling defeated. I really wanted to get to know Kendall more.

"Hey Jacob!" I heard a voice call me. I turned my head around to see Kendall waving her phone in the air, half running, half speed walking down her driveway.

She got to me and said, "Can I get your number?"

I looked at her and tried not to smile like an idiot. YES!

"Sure Kendall." I took her phone and added myself in her contacts. I noticed that she had a lot of friends on her list.

"Here you go!" I handed her phone back to her.

"Well, I guess we'll talk later, right?" She asked

"Yep, well, bye!"

Then I felt a burst of happiness. I turned around and started running down the sidewalk to Starbucks, only stopping once to take a breath, and smile like the idiot I was.

Author's Note:
So, we got to learn a little bit about Jacob and how he feels for Kendall! I honestly loved writing this chapter.❤️ I know it may seem a little weird because this depicts the coffee scene that happened sometime ago, but I really wanted to write it. Consider this my early Christmas gift to you! After all, it is Christmas Eve! 🎄🎁. Oh, and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
