ID# - SHN-105

Threat Level: Level 1*

Name: Nanobit

SPIDER Protection Guidelines:

SHN-105 is stored in a custom-built computer located in Dr. Cody Powers's laboratory. The computer is connected by cables to a solar-powered generator that powers the system. Under no circumstances should the computer be connected to the Internet via wireless or Ethernet cables, and it should not be connected via telephone or regular power cables. The former guidelines will be ignored however, if permission from Dr. Powers is granted.

SHN-105 potentially poses a direct threat to the global integrity of the Internet. If SHN-105 were to escape from its computer and transfer itself through a cable plugged into the system, it is possible that it could wipe out several petabytes, possibly exabytes of data around the world and corrupt millions of computers. However, since SHN-105's behavior is human and moral (yet occasionally childish), and is almost continually watched by Dr. Powers, it does not present any real harm.

Description:

SHN-105 is an artificially intelligent computer program that was created by [REDACTED]. The program, called Nanobit (according to its text property), was supposedly designed by its creator to complete simple online assignments for college courses. It developed sentience sometime early on in its creation, probably as a side effect of its ability to rapidly learn from and build upon its own programming.

The program's on-screen design is similar to that of a younger girl, but with robotic features, such as an antennae on its head. Its proportions are exaggerated, having thin limbs, a large head, and a thimble-shaped body. Its eyes are usually colored yellow when neutral, but when a change in emotional state occurs, they will change color. The color red would typically mean anger or rage, fear or sadness will turn them blue, and so forth. To look at a full color key for SHN-105's eye colors, please consult with Dr. Powers.

The main danger of SHN-105 comes from its existence in cyberspace. It can do any task that is possible within the confines of the system it's on, which includes, but is not limited to; file deletion and alteration, software manipulation, and data creation. Allowing SHN-105 on any digital device leaves the device subject to SHN-105's will. Furthermore, any user-specific data would also be under SHN-105's control if it desires use of it, like credit card numbers, or passwords to any accounts.

Despite the aforementioned statements, SHN-105 is not regarded as an immediate threat. SHN-105, like SHN-27, is considered practically harmless because of its ethical behavior. It does not violate nor has it ever violated any of Asimov's Laws of Robotics, and only ever wishes to help anyone in need of its assistance. Reports from Dr. Powers show that, also like Roburt, it has been a great asset in the completion of many projects.

SHN-105's presence is still one of concern. Unlike SHN-27, SHN-105 cannot be easily stopped by physical means. Thus, SHN-105's access to the Internet is restricted most of the time, and, in order to further understand SHN-105 itself, its original creator has been hired to work with SPIDER.

Why would [REDACTED] need to create a self-aware, human-thinking program to do his homework? If he could make that, he should be smart enough to do his own homework! Did he not realize the implications of his laziness?! God. He's the dumbest genius I've ever known.

-Dr. Tabitha Lyle.
