I turned around already knowing who it was. "What's up Takashi?" I asked, hearing Rachel snicker in the background. "I just wanted to give you this," Takashi said and handed me a box with a ribbon. "Is this the dress?" I asked, only to receive a nod. "I can't accept this," I said, trying to hand it back to him. "Then... I'll go to your house and ask your family to give it to you." Takashi replied, taking back the box. "You don't know where I live," I said. "I'll ask Rachel." He replied. I thought for a moment about him going to my house and dropping off the box, I would never be left alone. I sighed heavily, taking the box. "Damn, I didn't think you'd have that in you. Thanks for the dress." I said and smiled, he really grows on you. "See you guys at school," Takashi said and waved. He started walking away and Rachel nudged me. I gave her a confused look and she rolled her eyes. "Ask him to the dance, he just bought your dumass a dress," Rachel replied. I shook my head and gave her a weird look. "Hey! Takashi, come here real quick." Rachel called out. Takashi walked back over to us and I just stood there awkwardly. "Jane, don't you have something to say to him?" Rachel asked. "I don't. Sorry for wasting your time Takashi." I replied, glaring at Rachel. "Jane, I was wondering..." He started then his voice got quiet. "Can you repeat the last part, I couldn't hear it," I said. He started mumbling again then staring at the ground. "Still can't hear," I said. This went on for a few moments until he finally yelled. "WILL YOU GO TO THE DANCE WITH ME?" Stunned by both him yelling and the question I just stood there. "Just as friends?" I asked he had stopped staring at the ground and was looking away. I couldn't tell how he felt about my question, was he upset or relieved? "Jane, you're an idiot. He's asking you to go as a date and not friends." Rachel said and hit me in my arm. The realization hit me like a truck, what the hell do I say? "Are you seriously asking me out?" I asked, unsure of what to say. "No, I was just talking about as friends," Takashi replied, shaking his head and looking down. "Sure, I'll go as whatever you want us to be, friends, strangers, acquaintances, it doesn't matter to me," I replied. He looked up like he was waiting for me to say something else but the was the end to my sentence. I don't know what words he would be waiting for me to say, I mean he already said that we'd go as friends and I strongly agree with that idea. "W-What about as a date?" Takashi had asked quietly. "Sure," I said, not even thinking. His face lit up. "See you guys tomorrow." He said and ran off. What the fuck did I just do?
