“Oi, Keiji, mom is making us something to eat, you can’t be out here all day y’know!” The small girl huffed, having her hands on her hips. Her little brother was outside playing in the snow. He turned to her and frowned.
“But (Y/N)~! It just started snowing outside, and it’s going to get dark soon!” the boy whined. (Y/N) couldn’t help but crack a small smile.
“Keiji, you’ll have four whole hours to play out here, plus mom is making us (favorite food),” her grin becoming wider, knowing that he’ll be easily convinced. “wouldn’t want the food to go to waste, hm?”
Keiji slouched, but quickly got up out of the snow, and ran inside the small home. (Y/N) wiggled him out of his clothes, and put on something much warmer for him.
“I’m six years old, I can do this myself!” he stuck his tongue out. The girl laughed and rolled her eyes.
“Oh yeah? You didn’t say that yesterday when you had your shoes on backwards~!” she teased, earning a small groan from him.
“You two, don’t argue, the food is done!” their mother called. They walked into the only other room to eat their food. “Remember to chew this time, Keiji,” their mom giggled.
He was too busy stuffing food in his face to hear what she was saying. “Thank you for the meal, mother.” (Y/N) bowed in respect. Her mother told her that she didn’t need a thank you, and that she and her brother was enough for her to be happy.
Keiji finished his meal, and ran back outside. Before (Y/N) could say anything, her mother put her hand on her shoulder. “Let him have his fun, I’ll clean up, go play outside with him,” she smiled. (Y/N) quickly nodded, put her light blue kimono on, and hurried outside with her brother.
“(Y/N), you lied! The sun is going down already!” Keiji cried. She looked up at the sky, frowning a bit.
“Sorry Keiji, I’m sure we’ll have time to build a snowman before we have to go inside, okay?” she suggested. Luckily for her, he seemed to agree with that, already starting to gather snow.
“Aren’t you cold?!” she shivered, picking up snow with her bare hands. He shook his head, topping the snow he has on her’s.
“I really like the snow! It only comes once a year, and it’s so pretty!” his eyes shined. The twelve year old girl smiled once more at her brother’s innocence.
“Then let’s hurry up before the day ends!” she grumbled softly.
A few minutes in, it seemed to already get darker. Their mother came out to check on them. “(Y/N), Keiji, it’s time to come inside!” she called for them. They both looked at her sadly, having all their effort gone to waste since they didn’t finish the snowman’s head. She noticed and put her sandals on so she can help them finish.
“See (Y/N), this is why I love the snow! It brings us all together!” Keiji laughed, running into some of the trees to fetch a stick.
Before his mother could protest, she heard a growl. Her eyes widened. Keiji stood still in his place, too scared to move. There was a monster in front of all of them.
It’s purple-ish hair, sharp claws, and pitch black eyes, staring right into the boy’s soul.
“(Y/N)…get inside the house right now..” her mother quickly told her. (Y/N) stood in fear, shaking her head.
“Mama, no..! Please, I can help..!” she whimpered, trying to not get the creature’s attention. Her mother gave her a serious look, grabbing a shovel right next to her.
