Y/n lets out a giggle as she moves the steaming bowl of mash potatoes to the dining table. A knock is heard from the main door and Joshua gives her a nudge. She rolls her eyes annoyed, scoffing as she drags her feet to the door. She pulls the door opens and suddenly, time stops.
Oxygen leaves the room as she stands face to face with the man she hasn't seen in two years, her partner in crime, her best friend. She blinks her eyes a few times not knowing what to do, having lost contact with him for a while now. She looks to the ground as she moves away from the door, letting him in.
"I didn't know you are coming." She softly mutters.
He gulps. "Your brother invited me."
Of course he did.
"Well," She motions to the house. "Come in."
He awkwardly walks in. Her mum and dad immediately recognize him and warmly greet him.
"Niall, how are you?" Her mother smiles, bringing him in an embrace before stopping as her stomach touches the dish he's holding. "Did you make this?" Her mum gasps at the chocolate cake he's holding.
"Yes," He laughs handing it to her.
"Y/n, look." Her mum holds it up for her. "You're favorite."
Y/n is still standing by the door staring at them. "Not anymore." She mumbles as she walks to the dining place.
They all sit down quietly. Niall takes a sit next to y/n and she tries really hard not to let out a sigh or an eyeroll.
"It's been a while since you both are back home at the same time, isn't it?" Her dad laughs, "I bet you both have so much to catch up on." He says.
Y/n turns to Niall, who's already looking at her. She scoffs in her heart. Nope.
