The pounding of his head woke him up. Niall lets out a loud groan as he pushes his body up. The sunlight pierces his eyes and he hides back under his covers. After a while of that, he finally forces himself to get out of bed.
He walks down to the kitchen, feeling his tummy grumbles. But as soon as he arrives, he no longer feels like eating. He lets out a bitter chuckle.
He remembers bringing her home for the first time. It was after their first date. He had been waiting for months before building up the courage to ask her out. His y/n.
After finally getting a first date, he invited her for drinks at his place after dinner, just to spend more time with her. Then that night, while the two of them were washing up the dishes, he leaned in and stole a kiss, the kiss that started it all.
He feels tears brimming in his eyes again and he turns away from the kitchen. Everywhere he looks in this house, he sees her. The living room, his bedroom, outside his house in the backyard. Everywhere he turns, he sees her. He shakes his head, leaning on the wall.
He needs to get out of here. This doesn't feel like home, his soul doesn't feel at home in his flesh. How can it? When his flesh only ever know how to love her, and how she's gone.
He turns to his bedroom, pulling out the closest bag he can find and starts shoving clothes in his bag. He needs to get away, for a few days, a few weeks, any time it takes, he just needs to not be where he's at.
He pulls out his jacket that he folded neatly on the top shelf to be kept till winter, and something fell down to the ground making the loud noise.
He turns.
A brown leather book is there. He bends down to pick it up, flipping open a few pages.
He feels his eyes getting glassy again, recognizing it. He's kept it there for a very long time, to save for later in the future.
He flips to the first page. 'Niall and y/n plans'
