"I'm sorry we lost touch." Niall says.

Y/n presses her fork on her cake, mushing it to the plate as she watches her feet dangle.

"I should've put more effort in keeping touch. I'm sorry." He says.

She stays quiet, blinking her eyes from the tears she can feel forming.

She misses him, all those years. She kept thinking, what is it about their friendship that is lacking, that he'd gave it up for his work so easily. She knows that some relationship ends, but she never thought that theirs would. She keeps asking herself, over and over again, what exactly happened between their 'see you later's that she missed, that made them fall apart.

They both grew up together in this town, they promised to be each other's best friends forever. She didn't realise how that was just a part of growing up, when it's done, it's done.

She breathe out. "I don't want to be sad about you anymore." She mumbles. "I don't want to be sad about us anymore." She shakes her head standing up.

She turns to the treehouse and slowly climbs down.

"Y/n,"

She walks away from the park to her house.

"Y/n, wait." He quickly catches up.

He grabs her hand and spins her around.

"Stop it." She throws her fork at him by instinct, landing on his chest and fell on the ground.

She runs home without thinking as he was caught off guard. She's done missing her best friend. He's not her best friend anymore. She's done being sad about what was loss.
