Although the charm has almost completely worn off by the time I get to the room, I don't get caught. I'm there before him, giving me time to question whether I'm wanting to yell at him or kiss him. I lift the spell once the lights turn on], and I walk over to the couch.
Suddenly arms wrap around me from behind, and I shout, throwing my elbow back. I hear a groan and whip around right as Draco appears behind me, lifting his own invisibility charm.
"Bloody hell, Medlor!" he exclaims, holding his ribs, but he's laughing at me. I feel my face warm up as I storm over, slapping his arm.
"You idiot!" I snap, putting a hand to my chest to feel my racing heart. "You scared me!"
"I didn't expect you to elbow me!" He laughs even louder, dropping his wand and bending down to put his hands on his knees.
"Forgive me for being safe. Last year freaked me out," I defend, plopping down on the couch. He quiets himself, moving to sit beside me.
"I don't blame you." He leans in as if he's about to kiss me, but I lift my fingers and block his lips. His eyes open in surprise, and he pouts.
"Draco, you shouldn't have hurt Harry," I tell him as I lower my hand, trying to ignore how attractive he looks when he gives me that pout.
"He was listening in on our conversation." He sighs, moving away to lean back against the couch. "He deserved it."
"I'll admit that was stupid," I say, wondering if I should bring up what Harry thinks about him. I don't want to hurt his feelings, and I feel like asking if he's a death eater would be a step too far. I don't want to mention what Harry said about me, either, knowing it'd be hard to explain without the background information of me defending him.
"Are you mad?" he asks. I turn to him, frowning.
"For stepping on the face of one of my best friends? Slightly," I say sarcastically, "but I'm mad at him, too."
"Why was he even in there? Do you know?" I feel his fingertips start lightly running over my shoulder, not even realizing his arm is around me until then. I glance over at his hand and then back to him, biting my lip.
"I don't know. I think he's just paranoid after the run in with your father at the ministry," I respond, leaning into him a little.
"Potter needs to learn to mind his own business."
"I agree, but I think you, mister, have to learn to control your anger," I joke, reaching up to mess up his hair. I see the beginnings of a smile on his face, and reach around his shoulders to pull myself forward before he starts to kiss me. His hand moves from my shoulder to my waist, and I pull my legs up to drape over his lap. His free hand starts running through my hair before settling on my back. I pull away for a moment, smiling. "You're good."
"Distraction is my specialty," he teases, brushing his lips against mine and pulling away right as I begin to lean in. "How else am I supposed to make you forget you're mad at me?"
I hold the back of his head and cut him off before he can continue, and the kiss becomes rougher as he lowers me down onto the couch. I run my hands down around his shoulders again before pulling him closer. He swings his legs up and moves into the spot between me and the back of the couch, holding me tightly around my waist so I won't fall over the side. He's still slightly above me, his hair falling down and tickling my cheek as the kiss somehow deepens even more.
Almost an hour later, we're still laying down, me tucked in his arms with my head on his chest. My eyes are closed, and I breath in deeply, wanting to take in everything about him; his sweet scent, soft skin, warm breath against my ear.
