Chapter 7

You and Newt ended up staying up the rest of the night talking. You were both shattered in the morning and newt had to leave early to go into the maze. You still didn't think that newt was completely ok, but you knew that he was better than he was last night.

"Rough night?" Clint asks you as you stumble into the med jack area.

"What's that supposed to mean?" You asked.

"Well... I saw newt leaving your room this morning before he had to leave" Clint was smirking, you didn't like that.

"We were just talking Clint" you reassured him.

"Yeah well I speak on behalf of everyone in the glade." He clears his throat. "Hurry up and get together it's what we all are waiting for" you hit him in the arm and you get back to cleaning the tools. But all you could think of was Newt.

"Do people really think we could make a cute couple" you thought, it made you smile just a little bit.

You were going about your day doing your job, just cleaning all the tools in the Med-jack area and fixing up the gladers tiny cuts. It was mostly Gally that would get injured and apparently he'd only do it to see you. He wouldn't let Clint see you him it would always have to be you.

When it came to dinner time you went and found Minho. You realised that Newt wasn't sitting with yous and that he was sat at a table by himself. You got up to go sit with him when Minho grabbed your arm.

"I wouldn't, he's a bit off today I don't know what happened in the maze but I lost him for 5 minutes and when I found him again he was, well like he is now, off" you say back down, you really wanted to go sit with Newt but you didn't want to upset him even more if he was already upset.

"So what happened to him?" You asked.

"I have no clue. He ran off in a different direction when I wasn't looking and then when I eventually found him all doom and gloom he was staring at the ivy on the maze walls. Examining it." Minho explained.

"Examining the ivy? Maybe he might think you could use it as a way out?" You said trying to come up with a reason and trying to figure it out.

"They ivy doesn't go all the way to the top it stops a little after mid way up" Minho explained. "So anyways, how are things yeno at work" He never asked you about your work unless you have a really good story but you'd tell him about it first.

"Why you asking like that?"

"Oh nothing, just heard somethings" he was egging you on.

"Tell me what you heard Minho or I swear your hair will get it" This scared him, he doesn't like anyone touching his hair.

"Fine I heard that you have been flirting with Gally the last couple of times he was in there" this made you feel sick to your stomach. You, flirting with Gally. No way. You laughed probably a little too loud.

"Never, ever, EVER. Would I flirt with Gally and for even suggesting that..." as you were finishing your sentence you ruffled Minho's hair, laughing. He wasn't very happy about that. The two of you were laughing and carrying on the rest of dinner. As you were heading back to homestead you couldn't stop worrying about Newt. You didn't know why he wasn't talking to yous and why he wasn't acting very much like himself.

"Maybe he's just having an off day" you thought, you hoped. As you were going to sleep you just could shake the thought that he wasn't okay.
