We weren't too far from the wall when Aang landed next to us, Momo sitting on his shoulder. "Aang, what are you doing here? I thought you were looking for Appa?" Katara asked.
"I was, but something stopped me. Something big." He brought us up to the top of the wall using a makeshift elevator.
"Now what's so big that Appa has to wait?" Sokka asks.
"That." He pointed to the large drill, heading towards the wall.
"Oh... yeah that's not good."
"What are you people doing here? Civilians aren't allowed on the wall," someone said from behind us. I turned around to see a soldier standing there.
"I'm the Avatar. Take me to whoever's in charge," Aang said. We were led to a small building, sitting atop the wall.
The general smiled at Aang. "It is an honor to welcome you to the outer wall young Avatar, but your help is not needed."
"Not needed?" I looked from them, to the drill heading towards the city. That was very doubtful.
"Not needed. I have the situation under control. I assure you the Fire Nation cannot penetrate this wall. Many have tried to break through it, but none have succeeded." He looked at us all smugly. The general stood up, taking us to a section of the wall with earthbenders, all standing by a pile of boulders.
"What about the Dragon of the West? He got in," Toph said.
The general became flustered. "Well...uh...technically yes. But he was quickly expunged. Nevertheless, that is why the city is named Ba Sing Se. It's the impenetrable city. They don't call it Na Sing Se," he laughed, "that means penetrable city," he said, turning serious. Kind of ruined the joke.
"Yeah, thanks for the tour, but we still got the drill problem."
"Not for long. To stop it, I've sent an elite platoon of earthbenders called the Terra Team." He looked down at the drill.
"That's a good group name, very catchy," Sokka said.
We all watched as the team failed to stop them.
"We're doomed!" The general yelled as he flailed his arms around in a panic.
Sokka slapped his cheek. "Get a hold of yourself man!"
He rubbed it. "You're right, I'm sorry."
"Maybe you'd like the Avatar's help now?" Toph asked.
The general looked over at Aang. "Yes, please."
We stood around against the wall, looking down at the drill.
"The question is, how are we gonna stop that thing?" We all turned to look at Sokka.
"Why are you all looking at me?"
"You're the idea guy."
"It's either you plan, or we go in blind, and fail."
"So I'm the only one who can ever come up with a plan? That's a lot of pressure."
"And also the complaining guy," Katara said.
"That part I don't mind."
We went over the infirmary, where Katara began attempting to heal the soldiers. "What's wrong with him? He doesn't look injured," the general said.
"His Chi is blocked." Katara stopped healing. "Who did this to you?" She asked.
"Two girls ambushed us, one of them hit me with a bunch of quick jabs, and suddenly I couldn't earthbend, and I could barely move... and then she cart wheeled away."
Katara's eyes widened as she seemed to realize who he was talking about. "Ty Lee. She doesn't look dangerous, but she knows the human body and it's weak points. It's like she takes you down from the inside."
"Ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo!" Sokka said, getting everyone's attention.
"Yes?"
"What you just said, that's how we're gonna take down the drill. The same way Ty Lee took down all these big earthbenders."
"By hitting its pressure points!" Toph said.
Aang looked at the drill. "We'll take it down from the inside."
"Uh... real quick." Everyone turned and looked at me. "I don't think I'll exactly be a lot of help considering... well just about everything..." I scratched my neck, avoiding their gazes.
"That's okay," Aang said.
I stared bewildered, and surprised. "Really, are you sure?"
Aang nodded. "The only way you'd be able to help us is firebending, but that's too dangerous for you to use. We'll see you inside the city, okay?" I nodded and watched as they left, heading to the drill.
I went into the city, being met by a carriage, and a lady. "Hello, my name is Joo Dee." She said, smiling creepily at me. I gave her an awkward smile back. "I'll be taking you on a tour of the city, then to your new house." The carriage doors opened and got in.
It was an awkward, and creepy ride. She somehow never stopped smiling the whole way through the city.
"This is the upper ring, it's where you, and your friends once they arrive, will be staying." I looked out the window at all the passing sights. "This ring belongs to all the most important people in Ba Sing Se." The carriage stopped, and we got out. "And this will be your new home." She seemed to smile even wider.
