Great, the voice in his mind speaks as he stares dead ahead to the wall, groaning, the one time you had to get injured, is now, he’s still complaining, feeling that he should vent his anger out by kicking his other leg but at this point… maybe he shouldn’t. He looks down on the wrapped ankle he has and he sighs as he leans back into the softness of the pillows.

Before he can beat his mind into a pulp from all the rotten thoughts, like the responsibilities he has at work, home, you, he’s left to jolting when there’s a knock on the door. He sits up immediately and clears his throat, “C-Come in,”

Then the door creaks in the most tantalizing way that it makes his heart stop when he sees there’s no one there at all… until his eyes travel down and—“Appa!”

A smile is immediately etched to his lips, arms wide open, “Princess,”

She tries to jump onto the bed, once, twice, third time’s a charm when she manages to do so and he’s chuckling when he’s cradling her into his arms, six years old and still so cheerful every day. He strokes her forehead and pushes her hair back, cooing softly, “What are you doing here?”

“I heard that appa’s leg hurts… is it true?” Her eyes are worried, doe-eyed and it only makes his heart swoon, “Yes princess but I’ll be okay, I just won’t be home for today,” Then he’s curious, “Where’s omm—“

“Right here, handsome,” The door opens wider and his heart skips a beat when you’re entering the room and his little girl that was once in his arms is scrambling off and she obediently steps to the side when you crouch down to her and not him, “What did I tell you, young lady?”

“B-But… I just…”

You frame her cheeks and Jongin’s wondering what’s wrong, “I told you just a kiss and hug, no jumping,”

She bites her lower lip and Jongin decides to keep quiet and she apologizes in the cutest manner but it doesn’t work on you. Until, of course, Jongin says that she’s the best girl ever and sometimes even good girls break the rules and you’re almost snarling at Jongin because no, this is not how she’s getting off the hook when she got her knee bruised from falling off her bicycle. Then she says that she’ll be a good girl and listen to her grandmother when she hears a voice down the hall and you allow her to go because she’s staying there for the night as you decide that you can spare one night here.

Then the door closes and you two are left alone and you almost forget that you’re not the only one in this room.

“What was all that about?” He asks, his voice soft as he wraps his arms around you the moment you situate yourself on the bed and he buries his face in your neck, “She fell from her bicycle this morning, that’s why,”

He sighs and shakes his head, leaning back to look up to you, “S-Sorry, I didn’t know—“

“It’s okay,” You whisper, not sure why but you are as you thread your fingers through his brown locks, “I’m just relieved you’re okay,”

He pulls you closer and grins, “With you here, how can I not?”

“Real smooth, Director Kim,”

“Right back at you, Mrs. Kim.”
