As an older roleplayer on Wattpad I generally find it entertaining when I learn people have not read the part in my bio stating I am indeed a parent.  Some have even asked my age. Well I started role-playing at the age of 7 when role-playing was definitely not cool.  My first steps into the role-playing world were through a tabletop roleplay system called Dungeons and Dragons.

For those that don't know it was invented before I was born. Dungeons & Dragons, developed in 1974 by Dave Arneson and E. Gary Gygax and published by Gygax's company, TSR, was the first commercially available role-playing game. (thank you Wikipedia) Eventually other systems emerged for superheroes, Star Wars, and so on.  Some just using pen, paper, books, and dice. Others using elaborate boards and furniture for the boards and their many rooms. Like Hero's Quest, or Dragon Strike.

Now I was taught to play by the guy who eventually would become my brother in law. My sister's boyfriend, and through it I had a lot of years of great times, and bonded with friends over it. I can still tell you what different friends of mine's characters' names were, what they did, favorite food, and so on.   In fact anyone who has played in my currently deceased Freedom Fighters roleplay or any roleplay with elves involved may come across my characters telling these stories as if they were there. Cause some of my current ones were based on ones from them. Even to the point of sharing a name. Theora, and Elizabeth. Though Kitara, Theora, and Elizabeth are very different from the OCS they paid homage to since I've used them on Wattpad.  For instance the original Theora was a wild elf, a thief that flies using a magic cloak.

Now this being said I have roleplayed a long time. I even roleplayed on Yahoo.com's Yahoo groups where there are still several running online roleplays.  I was in one for the Left Behind book series. I honestly started roleplaying on Wattpad cause I saw an interesting looking werewolf roleplay while I was reading the stories, in 2015 or 16. It belonged to Xenosis.   And frankly since minus the admin, everyone I met was over 21, or more like yahoo, So I thought it was all adult roleplayers.

I learned not too long later and maybe into my second roleplay that, There was a large group of ages on Wattpad.  For those of you who don't know the role-playing community on Wattpad ranges from 11 all the way to in the '40s or more because there are many older players and we don't all give our ages.  (I'm frozen at 29) When I realized this I elected to make it clear in my bio I was an adult. And I don't hide it. I talk about my kids in chats all the time. And I sometimes talk about people I mentor.

Many times I am asked why do adults role-play.  Well, the same reason we started, or play video games. It's fun. It is fun to create characters, and flesh out there personalities. Especially if you get a good group. Cause not all role plays or groups are equal.  Some are special, in a good way. Which makes it fun.  Some groups just click in a special way and a role-play can survive multiple lulls, while others just die despite being an awesome and well thought out idea.

Now in a lot of years of roleplay, I have learned some people take the game, or Rp to seriously, or can't separate reality from fantasy.  They rely on the game to validate them, work out their emotions in an unhealthy way, and so on.  { see the chapter on the trigger ocs, I'm not my oc, or things that make you go ew}  And it's been this way since the beginning in the '80s.  Just like there are always gonna be role-players, characters, and roleplays that will make you cringe.

This book's purpose has been and will continue to be to address things in a roleplay that bother other roleplayers as well as myself. (next chapter might address not tossing your fellow roleplayer under the bus) For those asking if a chapter is calling them out.  If you read the date and time tag on the oldest comments you'll notice this book is almost 4 years old.  Generally each chapter in most cases is a compilation of multiple roleplayers, and incidents I have encountered. Rarely does a chapter refer to one person, and there are a few chapters that are written addressing issues totally by request.  And I won't say anything in here I would not say to a person's face. But the book is a softer way to address the issues, without me giving people a verbal enema or completely getting in a person's face.  And Its continued to get requests and get increased traffic.  So I will probably keep adding as issues appear until it runs out of space.  So thank you to the avid readers of it. Because it's one of the most read ones I have on here.
