"What do you want Mabel?" I snap after I opened the door. Mabel stood there silently for a minute, processing my tone of voice. Only then did I realize I screwed up. I was supposed to act weak, stupid, inferior. I can't go around snapping at Mabel!

"I-I-I, I mean, I'm sorry Mabel. I was just in the middle of unpacking and-"

"No need." Mabel cut me off with her annoying smile that seemed to read as "I'm charming and cute, love me!"

"I understand how you feel, being back here. Must bring back some pretty bad memories. But if you need anything you can come to me. I'm you're big sister after all. I mean, I saved your life!" I felt my mood darken as she spoke. It took all my will-power to not just snap her neck here and now.

"Anyway!" Mabel stopped her rambling about her being better than me and got to the actual fucking point, (for once) "Ford wants to talk to you in his lab, says something about the journal's and Bill? I dunno. I mean, I don't know why he want you, cause' I'm obviously better, but..."

I swear. As soon as I get Bill out of the Nightmare Realm I am murdering Mabel, but until then I have to act nice. "Th-Thanks Mabel," I stuttered for effect, "I'll go see him now."

Mabel walked away and I too exited my room, closing and locking the door. I made my way down the hallway to the vending machine, where I inputted the code. The steps creaked under my weight, and anybody but me, would've gotten the creeps. I then made my way to the elevator, pushing to go to the 1rst level of the lab. With a soft 'Ding' the doors opened and I surveyed the room.

It was disappointing to be honest. Papers were scattered everywhere, along with empty coffee cups. Ford was at a middle table, looking through various papers and maps. He kept on muttering to himself as he searched. I swept my gaze to see if there was anything helpful or dangerous down here. My eyes lingered on a storage cabinet in the corner of the room, surrounded by technology. It looked important. I'll have to check that out.

"Dipper!" Sixer shouted and I tried to refrain myself from yelling at him. I don't get. Why are humans so infuriating?!

"Hey Grunkle Ford." I managed an innocent lopsided smile as I walked over to the old man. "Mabel told me you wanted to t-talk." I continued my stuttering, it made me seem more harmless.

"Yes my boy!" Sixer put his hand on my shoulder and I took a deep breath the refrain from flinching. "So, I know you just got back but..."

"But?" I questioned. "You know how when we defeated Bill he was turned into a statue?" I nodded, it was well known information. "Well, from what I can tell, the statue is beginning to break." My mind connected the dots and this was either really good or really bad. But I needed to play dumb, so I acted like I didn't understand.

"So what? It's just a dumb statue."

"No Dipper, that's where you're wrong. If Bill statue breaks he could be released." I sucked in a breath. I knew that that might happen. But the other option might happen too. And if Fordsy here thinks it's option 1, then I need him to not, because then he's going to mess with my plan.

"But Grunkle Ford? Couldn't it also mean that if the statue breaks, then Bill's gone forever!" I tried to seem optimistic to him, but in reality I was scared as hell. If it really is option A, then golly gee my life becomes easier, but if it's option B.... then I need to fucking hurry.

"I suppose you're right Dipper. I'll need to monitor the statue to be sure, but in the meantime I need to talk to you about something equally serious." Ford pulled out what appeared to be the 1rst journal and my eyes widened.

"How? They were destroyed!" 'The only copies are the ones I have!' I added in my mind. Seriously though, I was screwed if Ford had found the journals.

"That's what I thought too. And it appeared they are." I furrowed my brow in confusion. He literally is holding a journal in his hand. What the hell.

"Ah, look." Sixer, seeing my confusion opened the book and I calmed down. It wasn't actually the journal, merely a book that looked like it with a ciphered message.

"I found it when I was in the woods, next to Bill's statue. It's been almost 4 years and I still haven't deciphered the entire thing. Here, have a look." Sixer pushed the journal into my hands and I basically laughed when I read it.

Under the Zspj Mmnrip there was the letter "B" under the Z and "R" under the second p. I chuckled. Fordsy here was supposed to be the smart one, however he couldn't even decode a simple letter. And he had 4 years too! I just needed a few minutes and I would have this cracked.

It was clear the note was left by Bill. He was very gracious actually when writing it. I don't know how Ford didn't see that the bottom was a Vigenere Cipher, and the body of the letter was probably the Vigenere Cipher changed into A1Z26.

When I looked up from the book I saw a look of defeat and also pride on his face. Weird combo, but okay. I told myself as he spoke. "I know. The Cipher must be really advanced, because I have been working at it non-stop. I believe it will give us a key to what's going on with the statue." This took my interest, as I needed to know before anybody else. So, I made an offer.

"Hey uh, Ford? Can I take the book back to my room and try to decipher it? I uh... I took ciphers in school as a class, so I umm. I umm think I'm good at it." Ford gave me a soft smile. "Of course kid. I doubt you'll be able to decode it, but you can try. Just don't lose it." I nodded and said thanks before leaving. I mean, it didn't really matter if he didn't let me, because I would've taken the book anyway. But he didn't need to know that.
