(Wounded) Levi x Reader

The trip beyond the walls was rougher then normal, the shock waves of Titans flowed mercilessly through the open land. (Y/n) was away from the Levi squad, the Squad she belonged to, she had to take care of the back formation. Things were always more difficult for her, as a trained nurse she was always carrying a portable first aid kit on her horse, which in turn made her slower and more vulnerable; but she never showed how it affected her. In fact she was probably the most skilled to take the task of carrying it without being handy capped.

Never the less (y/n) saw a blue smoke signal irrupt from a forested area, that was her queue to move out and go to the injured soldier. "Alright, I'll have to leave for now. Send off a red signal if you need back up, the commander should send someone else to fill in! Got it" She yelled, pulling away from the rear squad, "Yes, (l/n)" the crowd roared as they watched (y/n) ride off fearlessly to the smoke signal. As her horse galloped ferociously towards the dark and shielded forest (y/n) started to calm herself, she wondered why someone was even in the forest in the first place, shouldn't it be swarming with Titans? It's dangerous, and not to mention that no one should be leaving their formation.

As the bright sky became clouded with green foliage, (y/n) continued to storm towards the signal, it was off track and when she arrived fully submerged in the blue dust she didn't see anyone in sight. "Hello, Is anyone there?" She called out looking up and around, "up here!" (Y/n) heard a faint and blunt call from above in one of the trees, sighing she collected her kit before going to meet the grumpy Captain. When she scaled the tree she found him a few thick branches down from the top, "Captain Levi, its unlikely to see you hurt" the nurse smiled politely while making the sarcastic comment. "Yeah well, don't expect to see it again. Fucking Erwin, making me do all the dirty work" he grumbled to himself as (y/n) set her kit down before shifting too the Raven haired man, she couldn't help but over hear him. "Alright now, there's a lot of blood, can I see where you're hurt?" (Y/n) always tried to come across as calm as possible, it was important not to stress the patient out. Levi shifted with a groan and started to remove his shirt, clearly in discomfort (y/n) offered to help, the Captain let her do so. He watched as her warm and dainty hands slid his jacket off, her face showed she was obviously focusing on not hurting him, which he admired.

(Y/n), moved to his Ascot but found it troublesome, "I'll take it from here" he stated before brushing her hands away lightly, the (h/c) haired nurse pouted as she watched him remove the pesky piece of clothing. "That thing looks tight, how can wear it all the time?" she mumbles while she started to unbutton his shirt, Levi stayed quiet and watched; though he'd never admit it, he did have a staring problem. Perhaps he did it to intimidate, or was it to study people he found interesting, maybe he even liked to look at (y/n)? Only he knows. Once the shirt was undone (y/n) peeled it away from his bloodied body, Levi hissed as (y/n) began to inspect it, "looks like a gash, couldn't have been from a Titan. Did your gear do this?" She asks while meeting his eyes, not realising he was looking at her she was flustered when they suddenly met. "Yeah, I thought my ODM gear was faulty this morning but we were in a rush. When I retracted it, I caught the hook on my side" Levi explained with a monotone voice, it seemed he felt a little ashamed to get himself hurt. "Oh, ouch" (y/n) hist in sympathy, "nothing a few stitches can't fix, though you won't be able to fight for the rest of today" the nurse said sternly, Levi only nodded but he looked upset about it.

As the woman shuffled through her box she quickly found what she needed, turning to the half naked Captain she couldn't help but get a little red, he was well built after all. She poured what looked like water on to a cloth, (y/n) edged closer to the Captain, "it's going to sting" she mumbled before placing the towel over his wound. A rush of throbbing pain waved over Levi's cut and body, it shocked all of his nerves and (y/n) watched as his torso muscles retracted like a reflex. "I know it hurts, I'm almost done" (y/n) sweetly mumbled which let Levi's nerves relax, she wiped off all his blood and sterilised the deep cut, he sighed when she moved away to them sterilise her equipment. "Shit, that hurt like hell" he groaned lifting his head to the sky, not willing to look at his cut, (y/n) hummed in agreement, "it's not over yet, if it helps I have a cloth to bite on" she calmly stated as she threaded her needle. "Don't worry about it" Levi spoke, (y/n) noticed that Levi never liked to admit defeat or show he's hurt. She wondered how deeply that mentality was rooted, surely not in his emotions? But she could also never recall seeing his weak side while spending time on his squad.

Brushing her worried thoughts out of her head she'd have to focus on the surgery, crawling over to Levi she looked deeply into his eyes, this made him quite flustered. "I am not gonna ask you if you're 'ready' because that implicates doubt, but I'm going to start to stitch you up, okay?" She spoke sternly, "Okay" Levi answered. (Y/n) placed the tip of the needle into Levi's skin, he felt every centre meter of it, as he grunted at his pain he tried his best to take his mind off it. As he did he realised he wanted to look at (y/n), he wanted to see her expression, see if he could read her thought train, but why? Sure, she'd been an amazing scout and an even better team player up until this point, that's why he chose her to be on his team, but why at this point did she take over his mind? He suddenly thought differently about her, this moment wasn't the best place to realise that but he did, he noticed that he liked her affection for people.

While he tried to ignore the pain on his abdomen, Levi looked over the forest, that's when he noticed an approaching Titan. "Shit" he spat while clicking his tongue, "I know, I hear it" (y/n) piped up while keeping her gaze on her stitches. Suddenly a thud rumbled the ground below them, the Titan began to grip its hand in to the tree bark, Levi grew panicked but (y/n) never flinched. "Fuck, of course it can climb, just our luck. We have to move" Levi looked down to (y/n), "no way, We can't move with you like this, you'll make the wound worse, it could be fatal" she frowned sternly. The endless shaking of the tree set the birds a flight, the two could feel each claw griping the bark through their body, "Don't be stupid, the tree could collapse before it even gets to us" Levi yelled more aggressively. "Just stay calm, Captain! I'm almost done, please" (y/n) sounded a lot more stressed but she didn't take her eyes away from her work, even though Levi noticed her hand shaking. The Titans giant palm smashed from below them, it gripped next to Levi's head, "I am still your Captain, (y/n)! We need to move, that's an order!" He raised his voice even more. (y/n) quickly bit off the rest of the thread with her teeth, Levi felt the pull of it on his skin, she knew that would shut him up. Once the wound was knotted shut (y/n) shot her own wires past the Titan, anchoring herself on the tree she launched herself past the monster, once in sight she sliced the nape as she pasted it at great speeds.

The grotesque creature stop dead in its tracks, the grip of it on the tree became loose and it felt to the ground with a earth moving thud. (Y/n) landed before the injured Captain, Levi was amazed that she did that within seconds of approaching danger, in fact he was speechless. "When I joined your squad, I made a promise to myself to protect you, not just as a nurse but as a solider! I will never let you down, Captain!" (Y/n) yells proudly before the raven haired man, he looked at her wide eyed before smiling to himself. "Thank you, (y/n)" he smiled to her, she caught her breath before gleaming back, once again their eyes met and a truly spiritual connection was shared between them.

Eventually, the two climbed down the tree, Levi's horse returned and he shakily got onto it. As they road back in silence to the rest of the Scouts they were soon met up with Levi's squad once again, "Captain! Are you alright? We were worried where you went" Petra called out as the others swarmed him, "don't worry about me, focus on the mission" Levi scolded unfairly. "Doesn't matter" he smiled through the silence, "you should thank (y/n), she came to my rescue" he chuckled dryly while holding his newly stitched wound, the others thanked her as asked. (Y/n) smiled before the team set off towards the meeting point, as they moved on without any Titans Levi took this time to think over what happened. He was impressed with how (y/n) handled the situation, even better then him; she wasn't wrong, if they did as he ordered he'd definitely would be in a worse state. 'If we work together more, we have the ability to be unstoppable' Levi's thoughts stop the minute that entered his mind, 'what? Me and (y/n)? No, I meant in a practical sense, not...romantically, right? Then why did my heart feel like that? Whatever, we have to focus on meeting Erwin at the wall' Levi's mind quieted down. He turned to look over his squad, (y/n) caught his glare, she gave him a soft smile. There it was, that feeling, Levi shook his head and dismissed it.

Soon enough the squad made it, Levi was examined once again and put on a recovery plan. Even though she had plenty of duties, (y/n) made effort to see him everyday, sometimes with visitors. That's when he worked out that he truly did admired her.

A/N:
I always love writing from Levi's point of view, if you want anymore written like that then give me a shout and I'll do it! Also who else thinks that Levi has a staring problem? He normally keeps to himself when not asked to join a conversation or to make an off hand remark, so I think he comes across rude when he stares rather than join in. Also I read somewhere a headcanon that Levi would stare and stutter if he liked someone, and I think that's a fair idea, plus it's endearing.
