Levi x Reader (Coffee Shop Au)

The clicking of her heels scurried over the cobbled pavement along side the patter of rain, her breath was exasperated as the vapour puffed from her warm lungs. It was a bitterly cold morning in October, (y/n) was running through the narrow streets towards her job at the local coffee shop. "Damn, I'm never late" she scoffed to herself while climbing the hill, as the hill browed to an open square in the town (y/n) recognised the shop sign outside. With a sigh of relief she skipped into the cafe, the bell rung pleasantly and she was met with her coworker. The tall brunette jumped at her sudden entrance, "(y/n)! thank god you're here, I thought you were going to call in sick" Sasha huffed reluctantly. While (y/n) scrambled to get ready before opening she explained that she over slept to the younger girl, the teenager was clearly happy that she didn't have to manage a shop all by herself.

(y/n) walked to the back room to drop her things off, she grimaced at her reflection looking at her soaking wet hair and red cheeks. 'I hope he doesn't show up today, that would be so embarrassing' (y/n) thought to herself in reference to her usual costumer, recently she'd caught feelings after a few visits from him but it was nothing more then a simple crush. "I'm opening up!" Sasha called out, the young woman blinked and found herself back in the situation at hand, with a huff she tied her apron on and walked to the cafe floor. Sasha turned the sign over, wiped the tables once more as (y/n) set up the cashier, they looked to the clock, it read 7 am.

Sasha joined (y/n) behind the counter, in unison they slumped as they watched the rain outside, both with a heavy yawn. Mondays always sucked, it was slow this early in the morning, nothing but regulars. Though, (y/n) found herself giddy with the sense of seeing the mysterious man who she only knew by 'Levi'. Half an hour past and no sign of a costumer, the rain blew with the wind as it tapped on the windows, (y/n) did always like being inside and warm when the weather was like this. The orange light and comforting smell of coffee comforted her, "this sucks, where is everyone?" Sasha whined softly, (y/n) hummed brightly in response before suddenly standing up straight. The brunette caught her lighter mood once she noticed who was rushing to the door, a small framed raven haired man was lightly jogging towards the door, he shielded his head from the rain with his briefcase.

He entered and then readjusted his hair bashfully, 'Morning' he uttered with the outdoor breeze creeping in. "Good Morning, what can I get for you today?" (y/n) gleamed as he walked towards the counter, the man seemed distant for a moment, it was probably only a few seconds but it was enough for (y/n) to overthink and grow anxious. "would it sound rude if I tried to ask for a usual?" he mumbled slightly while making eye contact, (y/n) was trying everything in her power not to get too nervous, "of course! black tea right?" she added. A small smile crept on his face briefly, "yes, that's good" Levi moved to grab his change while Sasha boiled the water. "okay that's 80p please" (y/n) smiled, the raven haired man handed her the money and waited for the tea. "Nasty weather, huh?" Levi asked in a low voice, "oh yeah, it's nice in here though, kind of wish I wasn't late today" (y/n) added while playing with her half dried hair that had curled. Levi noticed her pout and found it adorable, he then noticed her features and the beauty they had, his mind ran away for a moment before he checked his watch politely.

Sasha came behind (y/n) and placed the drink on the counter, "here you go" she smiled before returning to clean the machine. Levi took the drink and thanked the two, "You shouldn't be late" he piped up catching (y/n)'s attention as he left a tip, "If you are, you might miss me" he smirked before heading to the door, (y/n) giggled lightly and watched him go. The bell rang as he left and she watched his frame move out of sight, a slight silence filled the room as the young woman smiled to herself. "Did you hear that!" Sasha yelled excitedly, "he said he wants to see you more!" (y/n) chuckled slightly, "yeah, well...can't do much till I get off my shift" she said with a pout.

The rest of the day picked up, more costumers flooded in once the rain let up and some other workers came in later to help out with the twelve a clock rush. It was the usual; pouring coffee, serving, cleaning, aching feet and an endless stream of smooth jazz. (y/n) being one of the older workers also micromanaged the youth, so much so she was nicknamed 'the mum' of the workers. (y/n) was very approachable, she always eased confrontation with costumers and was the last to leave the cafe with clean up work. "enjoy" she smiled to a happy couple before walking back towards the break room, she sighed while slumped on the door as the noisy crowd became muffled. (y/n) looked over her phone for new emails, 'dear miss (f/n) (l/n), Thank you for your submission. We will get in contact with you if a publisher picks it up.' she sighed, same old email about her book, (y/n) wondered if working in a coffee shop was all she'd have in life.

Before she let it get to her, she bucked up her thoughts and went back into the shop. The young woman shuffled through the other workers before setting out more pastries in the display case, "oh, you're right Levi, this is a nice cafe" (y/n) overheard his name and immediately peeked up. She quickly made eye contact with the man, nervously she looked away and whimpered to herself, he was with some work friends this time, all nicely dressed in suits. Beside him was a tall Brunette and an even taller blonde, all three of them bumbled to the counter for a late lunch, Sasha took their orders this time. Levi frowned his brows trying to find away of catching (y/n)'s attention, "do you come here often, Levi?" the taller blonde asked, "oh yeah, all the time, right?" he called out to (y/n) who was walking past, she turned to them and smiled, "yep, every morning!"

(y/n) tried to seem as interested as possible without coming across as needy. Hange, Levi's friend, bent down to whisper to him as they went to grab a table, "is that the girl you were talking about?" (y/n) watched as they mumbled amongst themselves, she felt quite flustered by this. Once the order was ready (y/n) set it with another waiter on the table, as she bent down to place Levi's tea he couldn't help but get a whiff of her perfume; it was sweet and floral, a complete change to the heavy warm smell of coffee around the room. "Please enjoy" (y/n) smiled softly, the raven haired man noticed the slight solemn expression in her voice as she turned with her head low. A lot of things were on her mind and her feelings towards this man made them worse, 'I don't even know him? I give him tea before his job and I don't even know where it is he works. When is the right time to ask him?' (y/n) thought restlessly for the rest of the afternoon.

The group of three stayed quite late, in fact it was starting to get dark out, of course it was only late afternoon. (y/n) watched as another costumer left with a thank you, she turned her bored gaze to the three as the taller man got up and put on his coat, 'they must be leaving...' (y/n) internally sighed. She felt a little pinch in her heart as Levi and the other woman grabbed their coats too, 'must be so, he's leaving again and I didn't say anything to him' she slumped with her palm on her cheek as she rested on the counter. (y/n) spaced out as she heard the door ring on last time, assuming they had left then and there. "whats with the sad look, you'll make the customers uncomfortable" Levi's low voice mocked, (y/n) stood upright with a nervous chuckle, "sorry" she smiled. Levi raised a brow, 'why is she apologising to me?' he thought only to realise that she did have feelings for him and perhaps that was her way of making him comfortable.

Levi's fingers extended a smart looking business card, it was simple with a monochrome touch but it was dark, mysterious and elegant, much like him. "It has my personal number on it, I'd like to talk more sometime, maybe over dinner?" he asked bluntly but with a tint of red over his face, (y/n) smiled as her tension released and her heart imploded, "of course" she smiled and took the card. He nodded softly, "I'll be seeing you then" he smiled softly before walking off, the young woman couldn't shake the blush off her cheeks, she held the card in her hand as the excitement bubbled in her. "Hey everyone, Mum has a date!" Sasha yelled playfully to the other workers, (y/n) rolled her eyes. The rest of the evening went quick and soon (y/n) was free to head home and call up her regular costumer, she felt as though somethings in her life were perking up.

A/n : hey, I'm hoping this is wholesome enough for all you cafe au lovers! I actually really enjoyed writing this so perhaps I'll make another one.
