You walked into the house and closed the door behind you. You leaned against it, letting out a long and heavy sigh. The stresses of the day have settled heavily on your shoulders and to make matters worse, today is your three year anniversary with Kendall and she's away at the moment.
You've tried to be supportive. You know she's got a busy job, but she's never been away on your anniversary before, so it was tough adjusting to her being away. You pulled your phone out of your pocket, hoping to see a text from her but there was nothing to be found.
You took your coat off and hung it up on the rack and that's when something caught your eye. Looking at the floor you saw rose petals scattered everywhere. You followed them and they led you upstairs to your shared room with Kendall.
Before you even opened the door you could see some sort of light flickering in the room. Just like always, you didn't close the door and you didn't leave the lights on before you went off to work this morning. You carefully opened the door, and what you saw left you breathless.
There were candles all over the bedroom. It looked beautiful and so romantic.
You saw Kendall's bag on the floor and you gasped excitedly when it hit you that she was home. "Kendall?" You felt an arm go around your waist and you jumped before soft lips pressed against your neck. "Sorry, baby. I didn't mean to scare you."
Your eyes filled with tears when you spun around to find her standing right in front of you. You threw your arms around her and hugged her tightly. "Happy anniversary!" You excitedly planted a kiss to her lips. "Happy anniversary. I can't believe that you made it."
"Well why wouldn't I? It's our special day." She caressed your cheek. "Can you believe it's been two years now that we've spent together?" You shook your head with a smile. "I feel like I've known you my whole life." She leaned her forehead against yours. "You know I'm in love with you, right? So, so in love with you."
"I know. I'm just as in love with you." You tried to steal another kiss but she pulled away before your lips could touch. "I've been thinking about what to get you and what to do to make this anniversary more special than the last. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about you, the more it occurred to me how I can't imagine spending a single day of my life without you by my side."
She got down onto one knee, leaving you awestruck.
"Kendall...?"
Tears came to your eyes as you saw her pull a box from her pocket and hold out the ring for you. "You're the best thing to ever happen to me. I fall more and more in love with you each and every day and I wanna spend forever that way; falling more in love with you every day as we grow old together and build our own family. I love you, y/n. You're the only one I wanna spend forever with. Will you marry me?"
You let out a sob and got down on your knees. "Yes. Yes, of course I'll marry you!"
Kendall let out a breath of relief then slid the ring onto your finger.
"It's beautiful."
She smiled and delicately kissed your finger. "A beautiful ring for my beautiful girl." You smiled tearfully and kissed her lips.
"This is the best anniversary." You said, leaning your head on her shoulder.
"So far, baby. We've got a whole lifetime of them ahead."
