you won't let go when she hugs you

You heard the long, heavy sigh leave her lips as soon as the front door was closed. She closed her eyes and her shoulders slumped, but the frown on her face seemed to fade a little when she heard your voice coming from the last step of the staircase.

"Kenny? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm okay." She mumbled, but you saw through it.

"Come here." You whispered as you opened your arms for her, sending her a bright smile that caused her heart to skip a beat, as your smile always does.

She relaxed as soon as your arms were wrapped around her. It felt good to feel that security and warmth that it seems only your embrace can really give her.

She's tired. As if the dark circles under her eyes weren't enough to give that away, you could also tell from the way her shoulders were slumped and her muscles felt tense because she was putting pressure on herself.

"I know you don't feel all that great lately. I can tell that you're tired. I know you're under a lot of pressure, but please don't forget to take care of yourself. You're amazing, baby. I want you to be happy."

She let out a shaky sigh and sniffled as if she might cry.

But the touch of your hand along her back seemed to soothe her.

"Don't worry about anything else for the rest of the evening. You're home now and we can spend all the time you want together. We'll watch some movies or sleep the night away if that's what you feel like doing."

"I just wanna spend time with you." She mumbled against your neck as she laid her head there. "I love you. Missed you."

She tried to pull away, but you could still tell she was a little sad, so you tightened your grip on her, hoping that would cause her to smile at the very least.

But, what you heard instead was the sound of her joyous laugh. You could feel it against your chest since her chest was against yours. You could see that sparkle in her eyes. You were sure she could see the same one in yours since you felt as happy as she did.

"Y/N," She laughed and tried to pull away, only for you to hold onto her tighter and tighter each time. "You're not gonna let go, are you?"

"Nope!"

She laughed but gave in, letting her arms tighten around you just a tad. She leaned in to kiss you and when you pulled away a few seconds later, you found yourself caressing her soft cheek in order to see her smile again.

"You always know how to make me feel better."

"Because I love you." You responded and felt her kiss you once more, this time longer than the last, but just as lovingly as before.

"I love you."
