Sophie's POV
The walk to the Curtis house wasn't that long. Thank god because it was hot and I didn't wanna meet them sweating like a pig. Dally had told me two of them were my age and quite handsome. The house itself was cute and a decent size. Dal just walked right in, no knock or nothing.
"Aye! I gotta surprise!" I looked around. The inside was a little tight for the amount of people in the gang but it's alright.
Heavy and loud foot steps came from the back of the house. Yells and Whoops echoed through the whole house, making me want to plug my ears. 5 boys came out of the kitchen. Two of them looked young, that's probably who Dally was talking bout. One had blonde hair combed to one side. He stood with his hands in his jeans. The boy next to him seemed younger. He had black greasy hair that covered some of his face on one side. He had a cut on his cheek and some bruises. He stood with a slouch with his hands in his jean jacket pocket. He looked shy but interested. The two older looking ones seemed like the type of students to make caos. I can already tell which one is Two-Bit by the way he acted. The last one I saw was an extremely handsome guy. He had a nice jaw line and gorgeous eyes.
"Whose this broad?" The one I was assuming Two-Bit smiled cheekily at me.
"That ain't no way to talk to a lady now is it?" I crossed my arms and glared at him. Dally chucked a pillow at him.
"This is my kid sister, Sophie. She moved here away from our parents" They all smiled. The hot ones smile almost made me melt.
"I'm Ponyboy, promise I ain't nothin like these dweebs" The blonde laughed and pointed at the others. I smiled and looked down.
"The babyface is Johnny, I'm Two-bit, this steve, and that handsome lad is the one and only Sodapop" I looked at Sodapop and watched as his face turned a light pink. I waved at them. I remember Dal saying Johnny and Ponyboy were 16 and almost 15. Johnny looked 14 not 16.
"Hi everyone" I kept my eyes on Ponyboy. He smiled and I smiled back.
"No one touches her. You do i'll skin ya savvy?" I slapped Dal upside the head.
"Hey wheres Darry" I sat down next to Dal and looked at them.
"He's still at work until 5. I'm sure he'll like Sophie" Sodapop winked at me. I felt my cheeks get hot and looked at my lap.
"Hey ya think he'll let Soph stay here? I mean I would let her stay with me but I really don't want her living in a musty bar" I looked over at Dally. He never told me where he stayed.
"You live in a bar?" He shrugged and lit another cigarette.
"I sleep above it in one of Bucks rooms. Not the best place but oh well"
"Hey Dal I wouldn't smoke in here Darry will be real mad" Johnny's voice was soft and shy. He looked at me then quickly looked back at Dal when we made eye contact. He was a cutie I'll admit, but I mean so is Ponyboy and Soda.
"I mean I wouldn't see the issue in letting her stay here. I mean we have an extra room since I gotta sleep with Pony" Soda said while battling Steve in an arm wrestle.
A car door slammed outside and heavy footsteps coming toward the door. A tall muscular guy walked in. His eyes quickly caught mine and he raised an eyebrow.
"Hi I'm Sophie Winston" I smiled at him.
"Winston?" I nodded and looked at Dal.
"She's my kid sister Dar. Hey could she stay here?" I felt a little embarrassed for Dally askin such a question. Basically inviting me into someone elses home. But they all seemed close like one big family.
"I suppose. Welcome to Tulsa Sophie" Darry smiled then went upstairs to I'm assuming his bedroom.
The rest of the night was pretty normal. We just sat around watching tv and they'd ask me questions every now and then to get to know me better. I liked them already. Ponyboy and Johnny were sweethearts and seemed softer than the rest. The others were tuff and had tuff faces. I learned fast that the socs and the greasers are rivals and fights break out all the time. I also learned about Dal's reputation and if anyone found out I was a Winston who knows what could happen.
They were all too into the tv to notice me step out back. I sat on the cute little porch swing they had and looked at the sky. It was almost black with white speckles littered everywhere. I heard the backdoor close and looked up. Ponyboy smiled at me and sat down.
"I like sitting here too. It's my favorite spot" I looked back at the sky and nodded.
"I always loved going to the country and watching the sunsets. In New York I never got a chance to watch one" Pony looked at me.
"I like watching them too. I can never talk about them to anyone besides Soda and Johnny. The others are too tuff for that" I looked at him. He was real handsome. The moon made it easier to see him. He pulled out a cigarette and lit it up. I guess everyone here smokes?
"Let me see that" I reached for the stick and snatched it from his mouth. I took a hit and leaned back. I haven't smoked in a week and it felt good to finally get that rush of buzz.
"Dally know you smoke?" I handed him it back and shook my head.
"Nope. Don't be tellin him now he'll beat me to a pulp" I laughed and looked back at the sky.
Pony and I stayed there for what felt like hours. It started getting colder and I shivered which caught Pony's attention.
"Come here" He opened his arms. I shrugged and scooted closer to him. I laid my head on his shoulder and he slung his arm over my shoulder. We sat there for a few minutes when the door swung open.
"You're dead kid"
I looked up at a very scary looking Dally.
Oh no.
