LISTENING TO GANI'S puppy love while whisking together sugar, salt and butter really relaxes me. After a while, I mixed egg and vanilla in a separate container. Apart from playing with textiles and fabrics, I'm also inclined with baking.

I guess I got it from grandma who's also a pastry enthusiast.

When I'm already satisfied with the quality of the dough, I let it be chilled in the fridge for thirty minutes.

While waiting, I asked my Mom to FaceTime with me. My eyes sparkled when the camera focused on Dad. The population of his white hair is now outnumbering his black ones. Still, this man will always look good in my eyes.

"Dad! I miss you po!" I animatedly said.

Tumawa si Dad sa kakulitan ko. "I miss you too, anak.

"It's so unfair, Dad!

"Naku, ikaw talaga." Napailing si Mom kay Dad. "You're always teaching foolish things to Dekko." Tumingin naman si Mom sa camera. "Dekko, don't listen to your dad ha? Get a degree first, love will come after okay?"

We ended the video call when it's time for them to attend a business affair. It's been a month since the last time I went home and I've been missing them everyday. Learning how to live independently is great but there are times when I can't help but miss being taken care of.

Well I guess...that's how life is. You gain something in exchange of another. It's up to you to weigh which one matters more.

Setting the oven to 350˚F, I carefully placed the pan inside and waited for fifteen minutes. I used a toothpick to check if it's already good to go.

I can't help but close my eyes as I take the first bite.

What I love about this chocolate chip cookie is it's so chewy. My grandma's recipe never really fails me.
