DRINKS KEPT ON coming to our table. My mind want to reject Seri’s conclusion even when at the back of my mind, I know she’s right.
I’m jealous and I hate it.
I lost count of how many shots I’ve taken. My friends were no longer stopping me from my fast intake. Seri even told me to drown all these feelings if Herson won’t be able to reciprocate.
I told myself before that if I’ll ever like a guy, it’s okay if he won’t like me back. And I don’t like taking back my words.
Yet with Herson, I don’t know…he makes me want to do something just so he’d like me too! He frustrates me and I hate that again! I’m not like this…
My phone buzzed in the table so I took it. My vision was getting blurry; still I can somehow read the text I received.
Herson: Where are you? You’re an hour late.
I rolled my eyes. I took another shot of alcohol before reading that text again. Why is he texting me now? How did he get my number?
Then I laughed. Oh right! He took it yesterday!
I feel like the sofa I’m sitting on was shaking while I was typing a message. And why are the letters on my screen dancing? Was it letter r or letter t?
Argh, I don’t know!
Dekko: jjist dste tht gutl
It buzzed again after a minute or so. My brows wrinkled as I was trying to read his reply to my message. I hate these letters!
Herson: What? Are you drunk, Dekko?
Herson: Tell me where you are, please.
I chuckled upon imagining his face. Worried Herson is such a cutie—I remember that one time when Snow got sick. His palms were sweating, his strong eyes turned softer and he kept on sighing every five minutes. We were at a vet clinic then, waiting in the bench while Snow was being checked.
“Bruha ka, lasing ka na! Tumatawa ka mag-isa dyan!”
I shook my head and smiled. “Nope! I am not drunk, okay! Okay!”
I brought back my attention to my phone and typed a reply.
Dekko: yuire cutr im indide aryedian
Seri hugged my waist. Her breathe smelled like vodka when she whispered to my ear. “Let’s dance, sweetie?”
I nodded enthusiastically and stood up. Seri and I were laughing while going down the stairs and I felt Mich guiding us. He thinks we’re drunk! But we’re not!
“Time to party!” Seri screamed as soon as we reached the dance floor.
Party lights kept on roaming the place—green, blue, red, yellow—they come in different colors. Loudspeakers blared pop music, making everyone shake their butts and hips and everything they got.
