Jonah: You good? Jas mentioned you wasn't living with Ms. Iyah anymore?

I woke up to a text message from Jonah checking in on me. I couldn't even lie, I was a little bit upset with Jasmine for sharing that information with Jonah because I wasn't ready to talk about it yet. Or at least not with Jasmine and my sisters. I decided to text Jonah back, if I was going to talk to someone I would rather it be him.

Me: Meet me at our place in an hour?

Jonah: You got it.

Malique wasn't in bed with me so that meant that he left and was out doing whatever it was that he does when he's out "working". I get up from the bed and go into the bathroom that was connected to the master bedroom. I don't think it had really hit me that I was fully living with Malique because I was always over anyways. It'll probably hit when we get into an argument and I can't just leave.

After washing my face and brushing my teeth I went down the hall into the kitchen, to put something in my stomach. By the time I had finished making something to eat and eating it, it was time to walk out the door and go to our place.

Me and Jonah place was a small park surrounded by big trees that not many people knew about because the trees had grown over it. It was the place we always went to when we were meeting in secret for a while. But eventually we just told Jasmine and she didn't care. She was actually excited about me liking her brother and us dating.

Walking out the house I set my eyes on my beautiful car. I couldn't believe that Malique actually bought me a car.

When I pulled up to our spot, I had to do a little bit of walking but once I got their Jonah was already there on the phone with someone.

"Naw man, I'm telling you, I know the nigga, I just can't put my finger on it-" He trailed off when he noticed me walking towards him. "I got to go." He hung up and held his arms out for me to hug him and I obligated.

"Hey." I greeted once we pulled away.

"What's up with you man?" He sat down on the bench that was behind us and I followed suit.

"Nothing much." I kept it short. And he just nodded. I knew Jonah wasn't going to force me to talk if I wasn't ready but if I wasn't going to talk I don't know why I even suggested that we came here. I guess I just wanted to be in his presence. "Who were you on the phone with?" I ask to keep the conversation off me for a second.

"My homie from New Orleans." He kept it short but I wanted to know more. "You still into that shit?" I questioned him, curious to know.

"Don't worry about it alright."

"Jonah, that's how you ended up in the hospital and you're telling me not to worry about it."

"Look we didn't come here to talk about me, we came here to talk about you."

"But I wanna talk about you right now. Jonah, why are you doing this? This street life is not it, you're smart, you can make something of yourself."

"You got some nerve Imani. Talking about me like you ain't living it up with that thug Malique." He threw Malique in my face and I could only shake my head.

"That's not the point."

"Naw, but we'll get there eventually." He mumbled.

"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked and he shook his head.

We sat in a comfortable silence for about 6 minutes before I decided to start talking again.

"So momma put me out." I admitted out loud to him and he nodded his head.
