Waking up, I go to the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth. Going back into my room to put clothes on for school, I throw on a pair of jeans and a hoodie and slick my natural hair back into a bun.
I never cared about how I looked in school so I never did the most when getting dressed for it. Looking in the mirror, I admire the small curves in my body that my mother blessed me with. I grab my backpack and walk into my sisters' room to wake them up so they can start to get ready for school.
After making sure the girls were up and they were aware that they were up, I leave the house and start my walk to the bus stop with my earbuds plugged into my ears. The bus pulls up and I get on, making sure to say "good morning" to the bus driver like I do every morning.
I make my way to my seat and lay my head on the window, closing my eyes. I am not a morning person and I hate school so much. I'm just patiently waiting to graduate. I never actually had time to sit down and come up with a game plan for after high school. I should probably start that huh?
The bus comes to a stop and all the kids pile out and go into the school. Our school isn't that big. But not a lot of people go to school anyway so I guess they just didn't think it was necessary to expand it. Most kids drop out sophomore year. It was sad, but the truth.
The whole day I was pretty much distracted by my phone. Malique and I have been texting all day long. Well sorta because he was at work so it took him a while to answer me sometimes and I was also still in school so I still had my own work to do.
As me, Adrianna and Payton walked to lunch together, talking about nothing in particular. By the time Malique called me we we're already in the line grabbing our food.
"Hey, Malique." I responded grabbing a bowl, wanting pasta for lunch.
"Hey mamas. What are you doing." He asked me as if he didn't know I was at school. There was only so many things you can be doing at school.
"Just in the line of the lunchroom about to eat. What about you?"
"On a break from work at the moment."
"Awe okay, are you still picking me up from school?"
"Yes, I am."
As me and Malique talked to one another Adrianna and Payton were closely behind me picking up their lunch as well talking amongst each other. A group of females walked past snickering, clearly at me.
"Well look who's on the phone today. Who are you talking to your mommy?" They all laugh. It's crazy to me that we're in high school and they felt the need to comment on me being on the phone.
"At y'alls big age, grow the hell up." Adriana drew up a comeback before I could even blink.
"Mamas, who's that?"
"They don't matter," I respond as they walk away chuckling, leaving me and Adrianna rolling our eyes in annoyance.
"I'll talk to you whenever you pick me up. Bye."
"Alright bye ma." I hang up and grab my lunch tray and walk out of the lunchroom.

Walking out the school my eyes search for Malique.
"Hey Imani?" someone says my name and I turn around and internally roll my eyes.
"Hi Caleb."
Caleb is my ex-boyfriend. I broke up with him because he wanted to have sex with me and I didn't want to. It's not that I wasn't really ready, it's just that I wasn't sexually attracted to him.
