I got this idea right after I went shooting so the video above is me. (I HAD 6 ADULTS WITH ME DON'T DO IT ALONE)
"What should I wear?" Taylor asked her boyfriend of three years, annoyed.
"Shorts and any shirt. You can't wear open toed shoes, that's definitely a no."
Joe was dragging her to go shooting with him and she wasn't very excited about it to say the least. She never understood why he always carried a gun around with him all the time. "Its for our safety" that's what he told her.
She doesn't even like the idea of touching a gun let alone shoot one.
"I'm telling you right now I'm not touching them."
"Yes you are. What if someone breaks in and you are the only one home? You'll know how to work a gun."
"I've never had a gun in my house until we were together. They scare me." She looks in her closet, takes out a crop top and jean shorts, pairing them with matching converse.
Joe stops loading the few guns in cases he was taking to the shooting range and turns around. "Baby you can't be scared of them, I know they can be intimidating because of the damage they can do but I'm just trying to show you how to work a few."
"What if I hurt someone?" She was so scared she would hurt him or someone else and was trying to be honest with him.
"You won't, I'll help you hold it, all the way until you are completely comfortable to pull the trigger."
She didn't know how to respond.
"Come on, let's go." She nods and follows behind him.
She just didn't like the idea of shooting a dangerous weapon that could kill someone. She respected police and the Army, ect. But she didn't need to know how to use one right? Yeah she has intruders but she has bodyguards for a reason. That was her thoughts but Joe was thinking differently. He wants her safe at all times. She doesn't have guards at night. That's the best time to break in. If he wasn't there and someone did happen to get into their house she would know how to use one, if needed. If she can't even touch one she needs to get comfortable enough to shoot one, if she ever did need to defend herself. She's to nice to the point if she was in danger she wouldn't pull the trigger. That needed to change.
They got there and Joe handed her ear plugs. She shook her head.
"I don't need those, I do stadium concerts."
Right after that sentence she jumped from the loud shot gun.
"Want them now?" Taylor nodded and put them in her ears. She was jittery and scared around this stuff, it terrifies her that her concerts will be shot down just like Manchester's. Joe noticed and held her head in his hands.
"Baby its okay. They are in a different area that we can't get to. It's just a noise. Now go sit down while I get the few guns I brought." She sat down and watched him grab two shot guns.
"I'm going to load these and shoot a few targets, then I'll show you how to load and hold one okay?"
"Okay." Joe shot all but one target and Taylor was impressed that he was hitting most of them.
"Tay come here." She reluctantly got up and went over to him. Joe instructs her to get in front of him.
"Wrap your hand like this but have your thumb on this side then have your left hand on the bottom, holding the left side." Joe shows her but when he try's to hand her the gun she doesn't take it.
"Babe. The safety is on."
"I don't know what that is."
"If you pull the trigger it won't go off. Hold it with me." Joe got behind her, positioning her hands the right way. He pulled the safety back and told her to look at the aim on the gun.
"Do you see the target?"
"Yeah."
"Pull it." Taylor thinking it was still on safety, pulls the trigger and when it goes off she jumps back into Joe's arms. "You said it was on safety!"
"It was, and I released it. It wasn't that bad. You even hit the target."
"Please don't do that again, that scared me." Joe took the gun out of her grip and set it down on the table, making sure to put the safety back on.
"Here, sit down. I'm sorry I scared you but I wanted you to pull it without hesitation." She nodded, understanding but still didn't like that he lied to her. Now that she had shot one she knew it wasn't as scary as she thought. Joe had her try it on her own and she did. She didn't think she would ever like shooting just for fun but it wasn't as scary anymore.
"I'm going to go to the bathroom will you be okay?"
"Mhm." Joe kisses her head and walks away, which leaves Taylor standing in the middle of the target practice area, she was looking at her phone, not paying attention to what was going on around her. All of the sudden someone screams her name and when she turns around a bullet flies next to her head. Taylor let out a blood curdling scream and everyone heard. With the guy coming closer she backs away, people starts surrounding her in a huge circle but that freaks her out more. "Stop!" She screamed but they kept surrounding her.
At some point someone screamed to call the police, Taylor knew she was safe now that they called but this crazy guy was still there and trying to get to her. "Can someone get my boyfriend?" Her eyes were damp and she wanted comfort. A man asked where he went, Taylor told him he was in the restroom.
Minutes later the cops show up and are asking Taylor a million questions, overwhelming her. "I just want my boyfriend." Tears slip out of her eyes, she frantically looks for him and sees him running over to her.
"Are you okay?" The first thing that came out if him mouth, always wanting to know if she's okay.
"Yeah, I just wanted you. I was so scared it went right past my head and-d." Joe pulls her into a hug, letting her cry.
"It's okay baby, you don't need to tell me right now. We can go home." She shook her head yes and took his hand, the officers escorted them to the car so they could feel more comfortable.
The drive home was silent. Nothing was said other than the squeeze of hands three times. Joe nervously looked at Taylor, she was playing with her fingers not knowing what to do with herself.
"Tay I'm sorry, it was all my fault."
"No it wasn't. You can't control what that guy did."
"No I can't but I brought you into an environment with things you hate and you were already scared, then that horrible man tried to kill you." Joe was very genuine with his words and Taylor could hear it. Taylor didn't want to think of the reality if she had actually been shot. She shook her head trying to get the thought out of her brain.
"Tay, come on, we're here."
"Huh?" She looked out the window to see they made it back to her house. "Oh."
Joe helped her out of the car, leading her with his hand back into their safe spot. On the way home Joe came up with a plan to pamper her and do anything you wanted.
The rest of the day consists of cuddles and comfort.
