"Are you sure that's how you do it?" Joe questioned as he swaddled his son.

"Babe, you did great it's not like there's only one way to do it. Now let's sit down, my stitches are hurting." The three members of the small family sat down on the couch provided in the nursery of their house. Joe held the baby on his chest and lightly patted his back.

It was Taylor and Joe's first day without any help, taking care of their newly born baby, Zaid. Last night Joe had to make both sides of the family leave their house because he found Taylor in the bedroom crying because she just wanted to take care of him and everyone whisked him away the second he needed something. She was his mother and needed to know her as comfort, not anyone else.

"What do we do when he's sleeping?" Taylor asked, bored with herself.

"Everyone says to sleep when they sleep but its nine in the morning so I'm not sure. I can put him in the swing and you can watch TV while I make breakfast, sound good?"

"Yeah, thank you." Joe got up and strapped Zaid in the swing and turned around to kiss Taylor before going downstairs to make breakfast. Taylor found some kitten show that intrigued her. After just a few short episodes, Joe came back upstairs with a plate full of an omelet, berries and a cut up banana.

"Thank you! You didn't have to make this much though." Taylor smiles at him.

"Yeah but that little guy might appreciate it if you have some good nutrients in you when he gets hungry." The couple eat in silence with the TV noise in the background. Just as both Joe and Taylor were done with the meal Zaid starts crying. Taylor groans a bit that she couldn't have a nap right this minute but still got up.

"That's definitely a hungry cry." Joe looks at her surprised that she knew that. "What?" She asks as she tries to calm his cries by bouncing him up and down.

"How do you just know he's hungry?" He crosses his arms over his chest while he watches her. "Well it's around the time he eats and he normal doesn't randomly cry so, I guess that's how I know." She shrugs and sits down with him letting him eat. Joe focused on the baby for a while but then looked at Taylor's face. Her head was laying on the back of the couch and she looked like she was in pain. He rubbed her shoulder knowing that breastfeeding isn't an easy task and that it hurts for a while. He kisses her cheek and whispers in her ear, "you're doing great, it'll go away soon." She looked at him and kissed him as if saying a silent I love you.

Three months later

"Taylor! He just smiled at me!" Taylor ran into the living room as soon as she heard him scream that, not caring that she was dripping wet and wrapped up in a towel. "He did? Did you do a face or...what'd you do?"

"I just smiled at him and he reciprocated it. You try." He scooted over a bit and let her sit down. She smiled at him and nothing. "What if I do....this!" She stuck her tongue out and made a weird face yet he still stared at her blankly. "I give up, I've been doing that for three months and nothing has happened, are you sure he isn't just gassy and it was a coincidence?"

"No I think he actually meant to do it. He'll do it at his own time, love. We have his whole life time to make him smile." He puts his hand on her damp shoulder and smiles at her. "You should probably go get dressed before we have to go to your parents house though, don't want to go like that now do we?" She stuck her tongue out at him childishly and went to her bedroom. It was Thanksgiving so she needed something cute to wear, the outfit that was chosen was a grey cotton dress, black leggings, and a burgundy scarf. Taylor looked in the mirror and in the past couple months she actually felt pretty good about her appearance and body. Just as she was about to go curl her hair Joe walked in with Zaid. Taylor takes him so Joe could get ready and talks to him as he babbled.
