Chapter 8 - Unwise (Part 1)

"I am your king, you must do anything I say and I say-" I didn't let him finish. "You may be my king, but I can tell all of Osaria just what you've done" I threatened. "You have no proof" he said basically snarling, angry beyond belief. "I have the testimony of 7! 7 servants who saw you kill your mistress! And I have your mistress's dead corpse put away" I said with a fury filled tone. "One day..." He began. "One day I'll be gone from your troubles, but that day is not soon!" I interrupted.

3 days before...

It's been over 2 months since Nik and I changed our arrangement. Shea was still in the castle, her country had gone under siege. She's bitchier then ever. Gabriel has announced his engagement to Cedany. My sister will be queen, never thought that would happen. Nik has seen my face, his words were "you're beautiful" then kissed me.

I giggled as Nik and I fondled in bed, it was almost dawn. He kissed my neck going lower and lower, I groaned and moaned with every flick of his tongue. Then there was a knock at me door, we stopped and listened. Again a knock "hello?" I asked. "Mary it me" said Rose from the other side of the door. We scrambled for clothing hi put on my night gown as he went for pants. I shoved him and his clothes out into the balcony.

"Come in" I called. She rushed in closing the door behind him. "Mary, I'm worried" she said sitting down. "What about?" I said trying to catch my breath without her noticing. "Cedany" she said biting her nails. "Why? And stop that it's a bad habit" I said slapping her hand. "She's been moody and eating a lot" she said still nervous. "What are you suggesting?" I said now with my curiosity peeked. "I think Ced is pregnant"

"What?" I said astonished. "Well either that or she's changed habits, and you know Cedany so take a guess which one it is" she said standing. "Well if she is, it's fine because they are getting married in a couple days" I said solving the issue. "Yes maybe" I noticed dawn was approaching, the deal consisted of leaving before dawn to not risk exposure of our deeds. "Alright I must hurry back to sleep, desperately tired. Run along" I rushed her out. "But," she said beige eu closed the door.

I ran for the balcony and swung the doors open. Nik ran in closing the doors, then turned and kissed me. "After breakfast" he said. I nodded he then kissed me again and left quietly.

Hours later the maids woke me and I had dressed in a red day gown and black mask. Breakfast was fast and brief. I was in my way to the gazebo when I was stopped by Cedany. "You have any time" she said grabbing my arm. I hesitated "of course" I then said. We headed for a bench and stood silent for a moment "what is it?" I asked. "I'm afraid, and... And" she stuttered. "Are you pregnant?" I asked.

She immediately turned red and burst into tears. She buried herself into me As I hugged her. "Well you'll be married soon" I tried to solve the issue. "That's not the issue" she then said rising up from my hug. "The King, it's that if he doesn't bless us and I have this child..." I gasped slightly. "I am your sister I will protect you" I said hugging her again.

I decided to miss the meet with Nik and be with my sister, later he arrived at my room. "Why didn't you meet me?" He asked. "I needed to be with my sister" I said shuffling through my dresses, I needed to find one for Sage's welcome home party, from her honeymoon with Viktor. "You could have sent someone to to tell me" he said getting agitated. "I was busy" I said getting annoyed. "What is with you lately? First you want me then you don't!" He raised his voice. I hushed him. "Now is not the time" I said then returning to my dresses. "No of course if not" he then Said leaving. I was going to stop him, but I had no reason to.

At the party...

"Sage" my sisters and I greeted her and her new husband Lord Viktor. "Mary" she hugged me, "Cedany" she then hugged her, then Rose.
"How was your trip?" They questioned. Leaving me with Viktor. "Lord Viktor, congratulations on your princess" I smiled. He smirks back "Thank you" he said then walked away. He's a shy creature.

I had made friends with several people at court, I spoke to Rita the wife of Lord Kurgan. She spoke on and on about work mills. Something caught my eye, Nik and Shea together by the corner. I watched and sure enough they started to kiss. It felt like a punch in the gut, "I have to go" I walked out into hall, it was empty and I was gulping red wine. "Mary" I heard Nik call out. "What?" I said annoyed and loud. He looked around to make sure no one was around. "Where are you going?" He said creeping closer. "You don't have to know that" I said walking backwards, away from him. "Mary..." He said. I turned and walked away. I went into the gardens, he followed me. He turned me around and forced to look at him.

"Mary, Shea is..." He tried. "Your bitch, Shea is your bitch" I said ripping from his grasp. "I didn't care if you slept with all the girls, but not her. Anybody but her, that bitch is nothing but a spoiled brat, our proposition is over" I said laying the glass drop onto the glass.

"So we go back to exchanging names and that alone" he said disappointed. "No" he looked up "No Gazebo, No exchanging names, no nothing. We are done" I said letting my hair fall. "Are you jealous?" He asked smugly. "I couldn't have cared less if it was with anyone else, just not her. That was our deal, now the deal's done" I said walking away.

He grabbed my arm, swung me around and kissed me, he kept deepening the kiss. I pushed him away and slapped him hard across the face. "Go to hell" I said wiping away any trace of him on my lips. Then instead of continuing my paths to the gardens I went straight inside and headed for my room.

I slammed the door behind me, I was going to sleep in my bed when I was reminded of this morning. So I just laid on my couch and slowing fell asleep.
