4 hours later...
Our clothes and masks were dropped off by Malice and Crow, Hale was at home he had caught a cold.
"I'll miss you girls" said Malice hugging Rose then Cedany. "I won't I get your room" said Crow to me as he dropped off a chest of Masks for all of us, he laughed as I playfully hit his arm. "I'll miss you girls" said Crow. Then hugged us.
Malice drew me aside. "Mary father wanted me to tell you something" he said with a worried look in his eye. "What?" I asked curiously. His eyes wandered then finally landed on me a again "getting you this position with the princess caused many troubles, some people will try to hurt you here. Don't let them, and whatever you do never take off your mask" I nodded in response, then he hugged me and said his goodbyes.
"Tell Hale, that he's a lazy ass, and to get well soon" said Rose. We all laughed as they rode away.
To the castle we come. We were lead inside by the same servant that questioned my mask. We had individual rooms, my room was large it had a mirror and desk to apply makeup a huge, comfy looking bed with cream colored sheets. The windows had curtains and I had a balcony that looked over the south garden. The servant showed me my room after Cedany and Rose had a glimpse of theirs. She left me to unpack, it the fetch servants to unpack for me. I looked over the balcony and saw Sage's half brother Nik talking to a maiden, then pressing his lips against hers" I looked away and went back inside. God that awkward, he must be courting her why else would he kiss her? As my thoughts invaded for a man I did not know. My sisters arrived and jumped into my bed.
"I thought this would be horrible, but this is pretty amazing" said Cednay grinning. "Don't you wonder why father did this?" Asked Rose. "About that..." I said taking off my mask. "I can barely breathe" I said. "What do you know Mary?" Asked Cedany with curiosity. The servants put our masks in a shared trunk, and placed in my room. The girls both took off their masks. "Well your right about the breathing" said Rose. "What do you know?" Asked Cedany again. "Father says that our lands are loosing fertility, he didn't want us to starve so he sent us here, lavish isn't it" I said. "What? The boys, they will starve too" said Rose. "When j saw him he was sad, at first I thought it was of the deal but, it actually was that he couldn't get the boys a position here" I said. "Why would the king do that?" Asked Cedany. "They are friends" said Rose. We both looked at her with curiosity.
"What? I enjoy history" she said Laughingly. We laughed with her, then with no warning Sage walked in. We rambled for our masks. Luckily she did not see our faces. We put on our masks quickly and probably ruined our hair.
"Don't worry I didn't see your faces, but you must get ready" she said grinning. "For?" I asked. "Well my mother has been planning a masquerade ball since June, and it's tonight. I will have clothes delivered to with in the hour" she said giddy. We all smiled "we want you to feel welcomed here" she opened the door then left. We all laughed.
We fixed our masks and our hair, I was right it was screwed up. "I'm going to take a walk" said Cedany rising from the bed "I'll Join you" I said to her as I fixed one more strand of hair. "I won't I'm going back to my room and sleeping" we all laughed as we exited.
She wanted to take a walk in the garden, crap. We walked until we found a beautiful gazebo. We talked for a while, "green?" said my sister trying to figure out my favorite color. "Nope" I said laughingly. "Yellow, Orange? Come on give me a hint" she laughed. "It's Red" I said. She was about to speak when a husky voice spoke behind me "you must be Sage's ladies" I turned around to see Nik. "Hello" said Cedany. "Why do you wear those masks?" He asked me. "Our father forces us" said Cedany. A servant right at that second came by, it was the girl he was kissing. Confused I looked at him with dead eyes. "Lady Cedany, your dress has been delivered" she said looking down. Cedany nodded and left. She left me alone with Nik.
"I'm Nik" he said to me as I leaned back onto a Gazebo wall. "I know, Sage told me. I'm Mary" I said with an annoyed tone. "You seem annoyed with me why?" He asked. "Well I saw you swoon over the servant that just took my sister to her room, and the fact that you are overly cocky" I said crossing my arms I've my chest. He neared me, one step at a time "you don't even know me" he said. "I don't have to, I know your type" I said straightening up, but still had my arms crossed. "My type? What is my type, Mary?" He asked referring to me by my name. "Arrogant, spoiled, selfish boys" I said. "Lady Mary, your dress is in your room" said the girl that escorted Cedany. "Excuse me Nik" I said crossing down to the garden grass. "I'll see you at the ball, lady Mary. Save me A dance" I kept walking while the servant lead me. His words stayed with me, save me a dance.
