Green, Blue, Yellow, Red and White.
Caps and Gowns.
Mothers and Fathers proud.
Teachers sitting around
Wondering what to do next.
Applaud, Applaud!
The new year has just begun.
2019 is becoming 2020.
This time however
There are no more Caps and Gowns.
This time however,
We get a new beginning to a fresh start.
Graduation isn't always what it seems.
Sure, we shed tears.
Sure, we become joyful of the celebratory day,
But the main thing is
Graduation is something to be proud about.
Moving forward is the key
Instead of moving back.
Some people tend to look beyond the fact of the matter.
Graduation isn't what it always seems to be.
It's joyful, giving, prideful.
But one thing that seems to be missing
Is a non-Senior to say thanks.
A brother, sister, Mother, or Father
Coming up stage.
Graduation is something great to achieve.
I don't know as much as other people do
But what I do know is that
Graduation is awesome.
To get away from the hard
To get to the fresh
Is something that is outstanding.
To live a life
To where you are an adult
Is something that is heartbreaking.
Don't get me wrong—
Adults are great
But responsibilities kick in
Then we need someone to save the day.
Now some of you are probably hoping for me to stop here
But I am not done quite yet.
Graduation is a mystery
Figuring out the clues
Which who goes to what
There's OU, OSU, and plenty more
I just can't quite remember them all.
Graduation is outstanding
Learning beyond what the teachers had taught
Socratic Seminars, reading novels, Writing Essays
Or at least some of us do
Some are here today
From the hard work they inserted
Some as I may say
Others—
Well they understand
So, let's be joyful
Give thanks to the Seniors who are here today
They could have given up
But they worked and pushed their way through
Oh, one last thing
A journey never ends until you tell it to stop
My advice
Don't give up
Push hard
And you can accomplish anything that you put your mind to
Look around
See the Seniors today
They didn't give up
As a matter of fact
They pushed
Accomplished about anything
Sure, there were tough times
And the parents, friends, and teachers
Wanted to throw in the towel
But they didn't
Like the Seniors didn't today
Follow their lead
Freshman, Sophomores, and Juniors
Because one day this will be you
On this stage
