It had been about 3 years since we had left the fire nation. We had been to almost every corner of the world with no luck. Zuko was training with Iroh at every moment and if he wasn't training he was following a possible lead about the Avatar.
He had changed a lot throughout our search. He stood at about 5 feet 4 inches but he never let his heigh affect his position on the ship. He was strong and a brave leader. He took charge and had no problem with bossing the others around. He had also become more toned since he started training. He was still just as skinny as he used to be, but his muscles were now visible. He had also gotten a new hairstyle. He kept it in a ponytail, but he was mostly bald with the hair only coming out of the back section of his head. It also showcased his scar.
Wether seeing it was a form of motivation or self punishment was never clear. For all the things that changed there was still a few things that stayed the same. He never showed his emotions and his temper had only grown worse. If you hadn't know him like I did, you would say that he was a completely different person.
We had both changed, but we were still the same people deep down. I looked at myself in the mirror I had in my room.
My hair had grown and now reached all the way down to the small of my back. I had also reached the age where my feminine assets had grown in. My boobs were about a C cup, which I was thankful for. Any bigger and they would have gotten in the way of my training. While I didn't practice bending, I did practice fighting. Every day, I would train with some of the other soldiers on board and learned to handle myself very well. I was skilled in self defense, as well as in the art of throwing knifes. In his spare time, Zuko would teach me the dual swords, but I was still quite new at it. I knew that being a non-bender put me at a disadvantage when it came to battling so I put just as much into my training as Zuko did. It had also led me to have a very toned body. While I didn't have full on muscles, you could see a set of abs etched into my stomach and more muscle definition on my arms and legs. In my eyes, it was the perfect amount.
Unlike Zuko, however, being on the ship didn't change my personality that much. I was still kind and hard working, sweet and kind, etc. I was the same as I had always been. I had my emotions under control, and mostly it was for Zuko. He needed someone to calm the fire. And so I did.
I kept my promise to Iroh about being there for him and guiding him down the right path. Whenever we weren't busy training, either with each other or with our respective teachers, we would spend our time together. Our bond had become unbreakable. The crew had come to think of us as a pair: there was never one without the other. The only time we were ever separated was when we were training and when we were sleeping.
It might seem overboard but we were stuck on a ship in the middle of nowhere half the time. Zuko and I were the youngest people on the ship. Almost everybody else was an adult. Plus, we were each other's only and best friends. Who else would we spend time with?
"Sora!" I heard a knock on my door.
It was Zuko.
"Just a second!" I replied, pulling on my training pants.
"It's urgent! I need you t-"
I heard the door open and turned to see Zuko had opened the door anyways. He immediately stopped talking and his expression was shocked. He stared at me for a second before realizing that I didn't have a shirt on. His face went red.
"Zuko! Close the door!" I said, shoving him into the room and closing it before anybody else walked past.
"I didn't realize you were still... changing," he said awkwardly with his head turned slightly.
