"As Dragons, there are certain things we are not vulnerable to and we slightly are more physically and emotionally enchanted than werewolves and vampires that know of our existence. But we are not invincible nor are we completely immortal either. Most Dragons stop aging between the ages 18 through 30 but it's always different everyone. We have longer life lifespans unlike Warlocks who age like humans but mated to a Dragon, they will share the same lifespan. For Hybrids like me and Theodore, our lifespan is a bit different than that of a regular Dragon or warlock but I won't get into that now." Edgar paused, licking his dry lips out of habitat as Kol patiently watched the action with interest in his eyes.

The two were chatting in their hotel room later at night. Edgar sat against the headboard of their king-sized bed with his legs crossed while Kol sat on the edge but faced the dark-haired dragon king in fascination.

"Mates have been around as long as Dragons have existed. We are naturally aggressive and possessive by nature and our other halves help to balance us out. Our instincts allow us to know who our mates are and if we met them. Some parts of them know and feel the bond but it's being blocked. If there was one thing Dragons fear more than death, it would be rejected as it is more detrimental and damaging to us on a physically and emotionally scale. Now the more positive sides of the mate bond are the conditional love and commitment. The possibility of cheating doesn't exist because the bond allows both sides to feel the betrayal. Once the bone is accepted, the counterpart would also feel the same way towards the Dragon. I've heard so many tales of Dragons living the rest of their lives with their destined ones, being happy and full of life." Edgar's tone turned slightly bitter as his brows furrowed, and his lips formed a frown.

He felt envious of those that were able to complete the bond without any complications. Sadly he could not say so himself. He titled his head, staring right at the ceiling with a dazed yet dreamy look in his eyes. It pained everything in him to lie to his destined ones, but knowing how difficult and hard-headed they were, Edgar and his twin couldn't risk informing them too soon.

His mind started to wander to their possible futures and how happy they would be like if/when the bond was connected.

"Have you found your mate, Edgar?" Kol's accented voice broke the male out of his thoughts. There was a slight edge to his tone as he appeared curious.

Edgar brushed his dark hair away from his forehead before sighing. "Yes, I have, but I haven't told them." He confessed truthfully.

"Why haven't you told them yet? Isn't it that person's right to know." Kol inquired.

Edgar stared at his mate with sadness reflecting in his eyes. "My fear is clouding my judgment and rational thought." He admitted, his heart twisting painfully instead of his chest. "You know, even when he's looking directly at me, I just feel invincible to him." At that moment, Kol had connected his gaze with the male's and could see the statement wasn't toward anyone but him. It confused momentarily before it came tumbling down like a cold bucket of water. There were so many emotions in Edgar's green eyes that made it easier for Kol to understand the meaning behind his words.
