Olivia
I heard a thump and then a yelp. I panicked and knocked on the door while calling her name.
"No answer" I thought. I decided to break the door and get in. I threw myself at the door but it didn't open. Damn these safe doors! Why did i have to install the heave ones!! I felt a shooting pain in my shoulder but I didn't care about it. I braced myself and threw myself again at the door. This time, it opened. I saw her lying between the couch and the coffee table. A giggle left my mouth as a image of a small Beth in the same position flashed my mind. I quickly lifted her and placed her on the kitchen counter. I took out a ice pack and held it on her foot where it was red. She winced because of the cold but i shushed her soothingly. We used to clean and take care of each other's wounds as kids. Though it was mostly her doing it as i was the clumsy one and she was always steady.
Flashback
I was in the playground near my house. Beth was out at a dentist appointment so i was all alone. As i jumped around on the monkey bars, i lost my grip and fell on my knees. I tried standing up but I couldn't due to the pain
in my knees. I waited for 5 minutes, trying to get the used to the pain so i can stand and go home. I heard someone gasp and turned my head towards them. It was Beth, running towards me. I laughed as i saw reaction. She always scolded me when i got hurt.
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING HERE?!" She literally screamed at me
" whoa! Calm down mom- i was playing and i fell. It's not like a zombie bit my knee." I joked.
"I told you not to play when I'm not around" she sighed.
"Aish even my mom hasn't ever said that" I pouted.
"can you stand up?" She sighed again
"If you stop sighing" i teased her. I couldn't stand up, atleast not without help. She didn't say anything and just looked at me with a "really" face. I held my hand up for her to pull me up. She tried pulling me up but I couldn't stand up.
"Oh my god- you're really hurt AND bleeding. How long have you been lying here? And why didn't you call your parents? You always carry your phone with you" she bombarded me with questions
"5 minutes? And my parents aren't home- they won't be of any help"
She sighed again and picked me up bridal style. I had never felt so scared with her. Even though she's the taller one, she was always the weaker one. I literally thought that she would fall face first with me beneath her. I didn't say anything, i was too scared.
"Don't look at me like that else I'll drop you- which i really want to" she whispered the last part.
"Yahhh- i heard that- don't you dare drop me!!"
She placed me on the bench and breathed heavily.
"Is it me who's weak or is it you who's heavy"
"It's you" I replied nonchalantly.
"What?! I really regret not dropping you!!" I gasped at her words
"Remember when you tried to lift that weight at school?! You would've fallen on your face if I hadn't caught it at the moment. Even I regret helping you!!"
She gave me that look again before we both broke out laughing at the memory.
Flashback ended
When i came back to the reality i realised that i was standing between her legs and blushed as i tried to get out. She held my hand and stopped me while mumbling "I'm sorry"
"It's okay- you must be angry on me. I left you while you were sleeping. Something i myself hate." I whispered
