Elizabeth
I heard Kate come in and went and stood near the door to greet her. Or to be honest to pretend to question her. I was sure she went to beat Ronnie up.
"Where were you?"
"Jogging"
"Mhmh- in a car? And you don't go for jogging Kate, you always work out at home" i said. She didn't reply and just smiled sheepishly. I knew I cannot fight with her. Atleast not when she did something for me.
"Cone on- i made sandwiches" i said finally dropping the topic
"Sandwiches?!! Hell yeah!!" She jumped and hugged me. She wasn't even sweaty- I can't believe she tried to lie.
She ate wholeheartedly. She would praise me constantly while grabbing another sandwich and keeping one in my hand. She was a fast eater. Though she could slowly relish food when she wants to, but if she's truly excited and loving the food she would take small bites and chew fast. Once she was finished she asked me
"So can i take you our for real without anyone ruining our date?"
"Well- he didn't ruin it- we found each other because of him,oh by the way you didn't beat him to death right? I don't want you to be jailed!" I said
"Haha- no Beth. I didn't- i sent him to the hospital and I didn't break all the bones. Just 3? And he won't be back in our lives" she replied. When she realised that she had admitted beating him up, she covered her mouth like a little kid.
"So yes or no? You wanna go on a date with me?" She asked again, changing the topic.
"Will i ever say no to you asking me for a date?! And that's good that he isn't coming back"
"Anyways can i ask you so-something?"she asked me. I nodded and she continued
"You know um- we were like a couple back then and you were sure that you weren't straight- so why were you dating that burnt crumb of stale bread?"
I laughed at her face, all scrunched up in disgust. She hates burnt toast, especially the crumbs.
"Really? You hate him that much?"
"Yep, trust me i still hate burnt toast as much as earlier if not more."
"But you ate the toast i made for you but accidentally ended but overdoing it"
"I eat you for every meal even if you were the most burnt toast ever" she said smirking and i blushed. I decided to change the topic.
"Well, to be honest, when i was trying to move on, I tried dating girls but everytime i would be with one, I would just remember you again and again. So I changed it. Ronnie was my first and last boyfriend. I'm never looking at men again" I replied and continued
"What about you?"
" oh well- um- i don't know- i was popular and i did hang out with many girls who wanted to date me but well- nothing serious ever happened" she looked a bit shocked at my question.
