Elizabeth
When i came out with the stuff to clean her shoulder i saw her with a serious and concentrated expression on her face. What's this monkey thinking I wondered. I started cleaning her wound without disturbing her. She wasn't even wincing.
"How long Beth?" She said out of nowhere without looking at me. She clenched her fist so hard that her knuckles turned white.
"What long" I jokingly tried to shake it off. I had been dreading this topic since the evening.
"You know what I'm talking about!! How long has the bastard been hitting you?!" She raised her voice but then took a deep breath and cupped my face with her unharmed hand.
"A-a week. But he didn't hit me- I always managed to run away" i said trying to calm her down. I knew how much it would affect her. She clenched her jaw and held my wrists and tried to push them off of her shoulder gently. I knew she wasn't using force but i still lowered them.

"Where are you going?" I asked acting clearly oblivious.
"I'm gonna break his f****** bones" she said trying to stand up.
"Kate no" i said
"Kate please just stop" I repeated but she still wasn't budging
"Stay- for me atleast babe" she finally sat back and calmed her breathing. She had always been short- tempered. Many a times she would come to my room through the window at night to sleep when she would have nightmares or would get angry after a fight with her father. She was silent and after cleaning and applying bandages on her shoulder we went to bed. I buried my face in her chest, holding her tightly as i fell asleep. Somewhere deep in my heart i was afraid that she would leave me again.....
