Scott looked to his right to his clock, 10:45. He’s been at his house for almost an hour and couldn’t sleep; he couldn’t stop thinking about what Lydia had told them. I mean she did sound pretty dumb, thinking Allison could be brought back to life, but the spark he felt in his heart when he heard there was a possibility made him want to at least try. He would do anything to bring her back. As Scott pondered to himself, he heard a knock on his door.
“Scott?” his mother’s voice came from the other side of the door as she slowly opened it.
“Hey mom is something wrong.” Scott asked. Ms. McCall walked and sat down on the edge of his bed and sighed.
“It’s just…I don’t know how to help you. These last couples of month have been hell for you and I feel like I can’t help you. “She began, “I guess I just want to say that you ca count on me, even though I wouldn’t be able to fix all your problems, but I can listen.” She sighed. Scott smiled and just hugged her and whispered into her ear,
“I know. I have never forgotten that.”
“Good…great. I just wanted to make sure.” She mumbled into his chest. Ms. McCall pulled away and looked at him, then turned away and left. That was strange he thought to himself. He lay back down and closed his eyes, and he envisioned Allison’s sparkling eyes and radiant smile and slowly drifted to sleep.
Scott woke up to a text from Kira. He stared at it for a minute before opening it. He felt a bit of guilt. He has avoided Kira since she left the hospital, just because he didn’t know what to do, or even what to say.
/Can I come over? I think we need to talk about a few things. / He read.
/Yeah, just come on up when you get here. / Scott texted back.
/I’ll be there in a bit. / Scott grabbed his basketball and threw it up as he waited. Soon Kira appeared at his door and he sat up.
“Hey,” Scott said awkwardly.
“Hi,” Kira said as she sat down next to him. Scott started tapping his foot nervously, not knowing what to say. “I don’t really know what to say, but everything seems different. I don’t know why, but it is.” Kira continued.
“Look Kira, these last few month have been really chaotic and just last night I was told something that changed everything for me,” Scott said before taking a deep breath.
“It involves Allison doesn’t it…?” Kira said before Scott could continue.
“Yeah, and I know I have said that I’ve started to move on, but I think it’s been obvious that I haven’t. Look, if there is a chance that I can bring her to life again, I want to take it, and I need to take it. I just hope you understand. I mean you’re a wonderful girl, but you’re not her.” Scott silently said. He looked over and Kira was crying. “No, don’t cry. I’m so sorry, but I needed to be honest.” Scott said, wiping away her tears. Kira snuffled and mumbled.
“No its fine, I’m glad that you were being honest. I…I want to help.” Kira said as her voice started to shake a little. Scott looked at her in shock. “Just because we probably won’t work out if this does work, doesn’t mean ill stop caring about you guys. I’m going to help.” Kira said as she stood up and left. Scott sat there dumbfounded.
