Chapter Ten: His Return

Makki |~|

We flew all throughout the night, barely having any time to rest. We had to get to the Western Air Temple as soon as possible, so stopping wasn't an option. A couple of hours ago, Appa got tired of carrying all of us and we decided that we needed to walk the rest of the way while Appa rests up.

I feel like my feet are going to fall off... Although, I'm sure this is much better than a Fire Nation prison.

"This is humiliating," Katara sighed.

"Do you mean getting thoroughly spanked by the Fire Nation or having to walk all the way to the Western Air Temple?" Sokka asked.

"Try both," I said.

"Sorry, guys, but Appa gets tired carrying all these people," Aang explained.

"...I wonder how the rest of the troops are," said Haru. "They're probably on their way to a prison. Seems like my dad just got out, now he's going back in."

"...I miss Pipsqueak," said The Duke.

"I miss not having blisters on my feet," Sokka whined.

"...Hey, we're here!" Toph smiled. "I can feel it."

I looked up from my sore feet to see that we were at the edge of a large, rocky crevasse.

I don't see anything.

"Uh, I think your feet need their eyes checked," said Katara.

"No, she's right, we are here," said Aang.

Both Sokka and I glanced around for a bit, looking for something resembling any sort of building. There was nothing. So we turned to the Avatar and gave him a weak and confused shrug.

"Wow, it's amazing," Toph awed.

"Everyone, hop on Appa," Aang smiled.

We all mounted the flying bison before he flew into the crevasse to reveal the beautiful combination of contrasting architecture. The temple had normal platforms and stairs that traveled into the earth walls and were accompanied by upside-down temples that hung from the top of the crevasse's ledge. Appa flew towards a fountain in the middle of the temple and landed. We all dismounted and stared at the construction of the Air Nomads.

"It's so different from the Northern Air Temple," Teo awed. "I wonder if there are any secret rooms."

"Let's go check it out," Haru motioned for Teo and The Duke to followed him up a set of stairs.

The three ran off together to explore the temple. Aang went to join them but was interrupted when Katara stopped him with his own glider.

"You guys go. I think we need to talk about some things," Katara waved them off.

"Why can't I go?" Aang asked once the trio was gone.

"We need to decide what we're gonna do now, and since you're the Avatar, maybe you should be apart of this," Katara explained.

"Fair enough. So, what's the new plan?" Aang asked as we all sat in a circle.

"Well, if you ask me, the new plan is the old plan," Sokka smiled. "You just need to master all four elements and confront the Fire Lord before the comet comes."

"Oh, yeah, that's great, no problem, I'll just do that," Aang responded sarcastically.

"Aang, no one said it's gonna be easy," Katara frowned.
