A New Quest

Part 4

Lucy's POV

"Wow. This ship is amazing." I say as Leo finishes the tour of the Argo with me.
"Yea. I plan on making more upgrades and making it bigger after we are done on this quest." He says looking down at his feet with his hands in his pockets as we walk up the step to the deck.
"How many more upgrades can you possible for on this." I say with a laugh and walk to the edge of the ship leaning on the rail.
"Trust me. I have a lot of ideas." He says following me to the edge.
I close my eyes and take in the fresh air as it blows through my hair. I open my eyes to see Leo gazing at me. His cheeks go red when he noticed I was looking.
"Sorry. I haven't really been out of the camp." I say as I gaze over the edge to see nothing but grass, fields, and mountains in the distance.
"How long have you been at the camp?" He asks.
"As long as I can remember. My whole life I guess. To tell you the truth I was never really allowed out because I'm a godly child." I say and my smile fades thinking about how much I missed out on being trapped at the camp.
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Let's make this the best first trip... or quest.. for you." He says with a smile.
"But it's a quest. How fun could it be?" I ask.
"Very true but don't worry. Leave everything to me and Piper." He says and runs off down the stairs to the lower deck.
I snicker as he leaves. They really are something, huh?

Leo's POV

I race to find Piper and Jason in the dinning hall sitting on the couch eating chips. "Piper I need your help." I say panting trying to catch my breath.
"With what?" She asks with a mouth full of food.
"This is Lucy's first time leaving camp in forever and we need to make is awesome!" I say excited.
"Someone really does have a crush." Jason says fixing his glasses.
I can feel my checks go red again and ignore his comment.
"Of course I'll help! What does she like to do?" Piper asks standing up.
"I'm not really sure. She seemed to like the wind in her brown hair and flying." I say not realizing how I said it.
"Maybe we -meaning Percy- can show her how to ride a Pegasus? We have blackjack right." She says.
"Yea, he's in the stables." I say point to the door.
"Okay, lets go find Percy." She says and we walk out of the dining hall.

"So you want to impress her." Percy says with a smirk after we explained everything about Lucy.
"No..." I say with hesitation. "I just want her to feel the experience of flying."
"Okay. Let's go introduce her to blackjack since he can be a little iffy with strangers." Percy says and we walk off to go find Lydia still leaving on the edge of the Argo.

Lucy's POV

"Hey Lucy." Leo says and I turn around to see Piper and Percy behind them.
"We would like to introduce you to someone." Piper says with a smile.
"Okay, who?" I say and we walk off to the stairs to go below deck.

"This is Blackjack." Percy says as we enter the stables.
"Wow, he's amazing." I say as I smile and walk towards him.
"Who's this Boss?" Blackjack asks.
"This is Lydia." Percy says.
"It's okay, come pet him." Percy says and waves me over.
I walk over the the other side of the black pegasus and stroke his side.
"Aren't handsome." I say and walk in front of him to pet his nose.
"I like her." Blackjack says and nuzzles my check.
"Wanna go for a ride?" Percy asks.
"If that's okay with him." I say looking at Blackjack.
He nods in approval and bends down so I can hope on with no help.
"So umm, where's the door?" I ask looking around.
"Under us." Blackjack says and the door open as we fall through the floor.
I let out a small scream and gently grab onto his mane so I don't fall off.
"First time flying?" He asks.
"Can you tell?" I say laughing as Blackjack flys through the skit above clouds.
"You know what I'm saying?" He says excited yet concerned. "Normally only Percy can understand me since a he's the sone of Poseidon.
Oh... I forgot that no one else can speak with pegasus.
"Yea... I have a special gift." I say in concern hoping he won't tell anyone.
"Don't worry. Your secret is safe with me." He says.
"Thank you Blackjack." I say and stroke his mane as we fly higher in the sky.

I can't let anyone find out about my secret.. I need to be careful.

Blackjack and I land in the stable and the doors close behind us.
"That was amazing." I say as I hop off Blackjack and he nods in approval as Percy feeds him an apple.
"Blackjack had a good time too." Percy says.
I look at the pegasus who winks and walks off to his stable.
Percy, Leo, Piper and I walk out of the stables and each go our separate ways. Piper heads off to the dinning hall and Percy heads to his room.
"I need to go check the engine room." Leo says and walks off.
I head to the upper deck and lean on the edge again. I can smell the ocean, the salt water, hear the waves. I guess we are going to land soon and have the wind take us the rest of the way to save energy.

As the Argo touches the open waters I feel safer, calmer. I've always loved the water. But wasn't allowed to go in it. Not even the lake back at camp half blood because of my secret; Chrion wouldn't let me. Said it was to keep me safe. I stood there for the rest of the evening to watch the sunset in the horizon. Once it was over I headed off to my room and fell asleep peacefully. Knowing that I'm surrounded by new friends.
