A New Quest

Part 10

Percy POV

As I exit the tunnel I see everyone is safe except for Lucy. I turn around and see Lucy standing there trying to hold them off so we can escape.
I start running toward her and see her fall.
"Lucy!" I yell and run faster. Once I reached her there is a large gash on her side and a pool of blood surrounding her. I look at the entry way of the tunnel to see that there is a barrier keeping the monsters at bay. I lift Lucy in my arms in a bridal way and start walking as quickly as I can without causing her more pain.
"Let me heal her." Will says and walks towards us.
"Not here. It's not safe. We need to get back to the Argo." Annabeth says.
"She's right. I'll shadow travel you two and will there. Will need to come back for the rest of you." Nico says and places a hand on me and Will. A darkness washes over us and we are back on the ship.
I place her on the floor and Will places his hands over Lucy's wound and starts to heal her.
Nico shows up 2 seconds later with everyone else.
"Why is it taking so long?" Leo asks.
"She's on the brink of death. She lost too much blood." Will says still trying to heal her.
"Let me help." I say and bend a near by water pail to my will and draw a strand of water towards Lucy and to her wound to help heal her. Since she is Poseidon'sdaughter water will heal her.
"One you will be taken underneath and not return." I hear Annabeth whisper, repeating a line from the prophecy.
"No. She will not die. She does not believe in prophecy's. she said why can't we make our own." Leo says trying to hold back tears.
She can't die. I just found her. I just found my sister.
Nico sits on the floor where Lucy's head is as me and Will sit on either side of her still trying to heal her wound. He starts saying something in Italian.
"What are you doing?" I ask trying not to cry.
"A prayer. Bianca taught it to me." He says and continues.
"You really do cherish your friend." Artemis says. I didn't even realize she was here.
Artemis kneels down beside me and takes her hand over the wound. A bright light flashes.
"Take care of each other. And thank you." She says and vanishes in another flash of light.
Will pulls his hand away and I stop bending the water.
"Her wound is healed and she's breathing." Will says with a smile.
We all gasp in relief.
"I think she's the first god to say thank you." I say with a small laugh.
I pick up Lucy and carry to her room so she can rest.

Lucy's POV

I open my eyes to see that I am no longer in the tunnel but on the Argo in my bed. I try to get up but slightly wince at the pain in my side.
"Don't try to get up." A voice says and I look beside me to see Percy sitting on a chair beside me.
"You got hurt but you're going to be okay." He says with a smile and hugs me. I return the hug and he lets go.
"What happened?" I asked.
"Artemis helped heal you. You almost died." He said and I can see tears forming in his eyes.
"One will not return." I say under my breath.
"We make our own destiny." I say and smile.
Percy helps me out of bed and walks me to the dinning hall where i sit on the sofa.
"Here, eat this." Percy says and hands me some ambrosia.
"Thank you." I say and eat it quickly.
"You're awake!" Piper says as she and Annabeth walk into the room.
"How you feeling?" Annabeths asks.
"Okay I guess. A little sore." I say.
"I can get Will." Piper says as she's about to walk out of the room.
"No no. I'm fine really." I say and she stops.
"Well you did good. The barrier you created to keep the monsters from escaping worked and Leo's fire was able to kill them all." Annabeth says and sits down beside me.
"Lucky. It would've been a massacre if they got to the street were all the people were." I say with a smile.
"We still need to be careful about the prophecy; one will not return. It's not normal for it to be wrong." Annabeth says looking worried.
"But the quest is over. We are heading back to camp. Should be there in about a day and a half." Percy says and eats a blue muffin.
"A lot can happen in a day and a half. Plus, the quest isn't fully over until we get back." Annabeth says.
"She's right. We need to take turn keeping watch." I say.

Lucy's POV

From being resting all day I'm not at all tired. I get out of my bed and feel the ocean breeze through the window. We must've landed in the water while I was out cold earlier.
I walk out the the deck to see Leo sitting on the floor fumbling with something in his hand. I haven't seen him all day. I walk over to him and sit next to him.
"How you feeling?" He asks still fiddling with what I see now is gears in his hands.
"Better. Thank you." I say.
"My shift isn't over yet. Are you on next watch?" He asks.
"No, not yet. Couldn't sleep." I said and leaned back to look up to see a clear sky filled with stars.
"I'm glad you're okay. Maybe if I stayed behind to help you, you wouldn't have gotten hurt." He says while looking at the gears in his hands.
I sit up. "It wasn't your fault. Nobody could've done anything." I said reassuring him.
"Maybe if I stayed behind and helped keep the monsters back while you put up that barrier..." he says and trails off.
I wrap my arms around him. "Hey, I'm okay. And no one is to blame for what happened." I said still hugging him and I feel his body relax.
"I was... we were so scared. We thought we lost you." He said and finally returned my hug.
"I'm not going anywhere." I say and kiss his check. I pull back a little and see if face getting read. I pull him in closer and lay my head on his shoulder. I take in his scent of oil and soap.
We finally let go of each other and his check are still red.
"It feels like we've known each other longer." He says.
"It does. Maybe these late nights seem longer than they actually are." I say looking up at the sky.
"Listen Lucy, there's something I need to tell you. That I tired to tell you earlier before the attack..." he says but I'm not fully paying attention as I see something dark and big cross the sky.
"Did you see that?" I asked standing up still looking at the sky.
"See what?" He asks and stands up as well.
A loud roar  trembles through the air and something large flies by the ship too fast to see causing it to shake.
"I heard it that time." He says trying to keep his balance.
"Sound the alarm! It's a dra-" I yell but get cut off by a loud roar as I see the thing that made the sound. A dragon and it's flying straight for us.
"Sound the alarm!" I say and run the edge of the ship where the dragon is flying towards. The dragon starts to create a fireball in its mouth but I bend the water of the ocean to make a massive wave crashing over the dragon causing it to fall in the water.

But before Leo can sound the alarm the dragon raises from the water and attacks Leo. Causing him to fall. The dragon flies up in the sky and back down.
I click my ring to make it a bow and arrow. I start firing arrows at it to keep it at bay but it doesn't seem to work. The dragon starts to fly towards the ship.
I stand still and start chanting in Latin, causing the dragon to fall from the sky in pain. That should keep him down for a while.
I rush over to Leo who is now in a pool of blood with 3 very large gashes across is torso causing his shirt to completely be ripped off.
"Oh my gods. Leo!" I say and kneel down beside him. I feel tears stream down my face.
"Leo. Stay with me." I say and place my hands over the wounds and start chanting.
"Please wake up." I stutter and continue to chant.
Nico and will come running up the stairs.
"What happened?" Will asks and starts to help me heal Leo.
"A dragon came out of no where." I say as tears still stream down my face.
"Where is it?" Nico asks looking around.
"In the water. But it will come back." I say.
"Nico. I need you help." I say and he comes over and sits beside me.
"I need you to keep his soul in his body." I say. Nico looks at me confused.
"I can feel him dying. Please Nico. You're the son of Hades. You can do it." I say quickly in between chants.
"I'll try." He says and places his hands over Leo as well.
"This isn't going to work." Will says painfully.
I know deep down he might already be gone but I have to try everything.
"I know. Healing won't be enough." I say and start chanting again but something slightly different. Instead of healing him I'll transfer a part of my life, my fire, my flame into him.
