"Out of food? Why that's impossible!", Macho assured as he picked Vinnie up and placed him back on the floor. "Macho just took a tally a month or so ago; and there was enough to last at least half a year!"
"Was that before or after you had 5 more mouths to feed....", the Mandibuzz Ranger asked concerned.
"Uhhh..... before?", Macho admitted uneasily. "Wait a second. Earlier when Macho was making dinner, there were still a bunch of sealed crates in the back."
"You mean the ones in the back left corner?," the Greninja Ranger casually asked as he walked back out of the sleeping quarters. "Oh yeah, they're empty."
Everyone turned to look at him.
"Then why are they still here?", the Mandibuzz Ranger asked.
"Uhhh, to remind us to refill them. Duh!", the Greninja Ranger replied sassily
"THAT DOESNT EVEN MAKE SENSE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!", the Bewear Ranger yelled.
The Houndoom Ranger laughed to himself, "Heh. So this is why none of us ever lived together."
"Calm down everyone", Macho encouraged. "We'll simply go on a food run."
"A food run? To where exactly?", the Infernape Ranger inquired. "It's kind of a desert out there."
"Then we'll simply have to go beyond the desert", Macho added as all the Ranger's looked at him in shock.
"Wait...", the Greninja Ranger began. "There's more than just a desert out there?"
"Of course", Zekks chimed in as he now entered the gathering space with a slight yawn. He turned towards the group with a smile on his face. "Sorry to eavesdrop; but it's pretty hard to doze off at my desk with all the yelling going on."
"What do he mean 'beyond the dessert'?", the Mandibuzz Ranger asked.
"Yeah", the Houndoom Ranger added. "From everything you've told us thus far about the outside world, we just assumed it was one massive wasteland."
Zekks smiled. "Just because humanity is gone and the laws of physics have crumbled doesn't mean nature has as well. The world has a bit more fight in it than that", he assured as he ushered them towards his office.
As our heroes entered the study, Zekks pulled a long cylinder from one of his crates. "As I suggested when we first met, beyond this desert, things get weirder", he remarked as he removed the top and stretched a large sheet of paper on the table before them. "This is our world, or at least what's left of it." Zekks said as he gestured to the map before them. "We are currently here." Zekks marked their currently location with a red circle on the lower portion of the map. "Everything to the North and West of us is an assortment of petrified trees as well as large crystal spires and glaciers."
"We've picked those areas clean", Macho revealed. "And the seas to our South haven't seemed that fertile either."
Zekks again gestured to the regions North and West of their locations. "I suspect these were the territories Xammoth and Xaikrou reigned over respectively. Which not only explains why it became depleted so quickly, but also how they found us so fast."
