'He's cute', a voice in the girl's head chimed in as she walked away, trudging through the snow. 'All these years and you still have a soft spot for the pure-hearted types.'
"WHAT?!?!", she blushed fiercely. "That's totally not true!"
The boy stopped and turned around. "What's not true?"
"What? Oh, nothing! Just talking to myself!" she offered sheepishly before beginning to continue on.
The boy couldn't help but laugh softly to himself. "Nice to see I'm not the only weird one."
'We all have our types', a voice calmly replied in the boy's head, 'Meanwhile, you've managed to meet yet another girl that's too good to be true.'
"WHAT?!?!" It was now the boy's turn to blush fiercely. "I've never met anyone like her before!"
"Like who?" the girl asked as she stopped to look back.
"What? No, I wasn't talking about you", the boy assured in a panic. "Not that you're forgettable or anything I mean...." but the more the boy tried to talk, the more he fumbled over his words.
The voice in the boy's head sighed heavily. 'Humbly gifted and pure-heartedly innocent....'
'...and yet both still completely clueless idiots', the voice in the girl's head replied with a chuckle.
"What the hell are you talking about?!?!", the boy and girl shouted angrily in unison - seemingly at no one at all.
The two paused and looked at each other. "What are you talking about?" they again shouted in unison – this time more calmly and to each other.
'All these years, and the Heavenly Blade is just as sharp and sassy as always!' the voice in the boy's head laughed. 'Glad to see you again Skarmory.'
"Skarmory?" the boy replied in confusion.
'You would address me so formally, Mr. Twinkle', the voice in the girl's head replied playfully. 'I'm sorry, Gleaming Armor Aggron.'
"Aggron?" the girl replied, equally confused.
'Life does have a funny way of bringing people together, doesn't it?'the Aggron spirit smiled.
'Careful! Giving out little nuggets of wisdom is Raikou's thing', the Skarmory spirit replied. 'Speaking of, wonder if the others have found their partners yet.'
"Just to make sure I'm not losing it", the boy began to ask the girl timidly, "do you also have a voice in your head that seems to be talking to someone other than you?"
"Wow, it somehow sounds less crazy when you say it."
'Would you two prefer it if we opened up the chat', the Skarmory spirit replied to both of them.
'That might be helpful', the Aggron spirit added.
The boy and girl quickly fell to the ground, both momentarily panicked upon hearing a voice they weren't used to echoing in their heads.
'You two have already had one introduction', the Aggron Spirit began. 'Now allow us to do another.'
'Skarmory Ranger, meet Aggron Ranger. Aggron Ranger, meet Skarmory Ranger!'
The two looked at each other across the snowy field, and the confusion and panic quickly receded from their faces.
"No way", the boy smiled.
"Didn't think there'd be two of us", the girl replied similarly with a smile
'Six to be precise', the Aggron spirit clarified. 'Or at least there should be.'
