WICKED is here, barging into Marcus's house, looking for the immune kids. There is gun fire and lots of screaming. Many kids are trying to get out and in the crowd, I can't find any immunes. I only have one in the shed, LeAnn. For two years I have been doing this and now I seem to be running out of immune kids to recruit. I stand, leaning against the door to the shed, far enough away from the chaos that, hopefully, WICKED troops won't worry about me. Plus, you can see the veins coming up my neck. I need more bliss but I have to wait until tomorrow for Sonya and Vince to give me some, I used all of mine on other kids. I've lashed out at so many kids it hurts, and it's hurts even more knowing that I can't control it. I tap my foot against the group impatiently, looking rapidly around to find immunes.

A kid slowly comes around the corner, hood over his head, I can barely see his face. He sticks his hands in his pockets and starts walking towards the shed. When he passes it, I ran back there and grab him by the wrist, pulling him around and lifting up his sleeve. He goes to scream but I cover him mouth and push him up against the shed wall. There is a gasp inside and I know that LeAnn is worried, I can hear her sobbing softly.

"Your immune." I say putting his sleeve back down and removing my hand.

"What are you going to do to me?" The boy says, obviously terrified. His hand goes to his back pocket and I know he has a weapon in there.

"I'm helping you." I say and take the knife away from him as he pulls it out. I take his hand and drag him inside the shed. LeAnn lets out a yell and quickly pass the boy to cover her mouth. She calms at my touch and I remove my hand.

"Sit down." I tell the boy. "What's your name?" I ask closing the door and looking through a small whole through the wall.

"Peter." He says, his voice shaking just the slightest.

"Peter, there is nothing you need to worry about. A group called the Right Arm will be here tomorrow to take you with them. There, you will be safe. Right now, you need to be extremely quiet." He nods and stiffens a little, like he is holding his breath. "You can still breathe, it's okay." I say and he lets his breath out.

I look back out the small whole and see a WICKED troop coming over to the shed. I sit LeAnn on top of my lap and put my hand over her mouth while my other hand hold the gun, pointing at the door in case he walks in. LeAnn is trying to stifle her sobs while Peter is now, again, holding his breath, his eyes wide with terror. My arm starts to shake as I feel myself slipping away. I grit my teeth and hold tighter on the gun. I can't loose control, not now. Just one more day and I get The Bliss. Everything is going to be okay, I tell myself, even though I know I might not make it.

"We got everyone." A WICKED troop yells out and I hear the burg start up. I see the shadow right in front of the door and I hold my breath, trying to stop shaking.

"Roger that," the troop right outside the door says and walks away. I let my breath out and pull my hand away from LeAnn's mouth. Peter lets his breath out and looks at the floor, trying to process everything I guess.

LeAnn turns around and wraps her arms around my neck. I am surprised at first but a smile soon creeps onto my lips as I hug her back. "Thank you." She whispers into my neck. I don't say anything, just pat her back and let her hold onto me.

"You sure we are going to be safe?" Peter asks when LeAnn pulls away.

"You should." I say. "You guys are immune so the Right Arm will definitely let you in." Peter nods his head but still looks unsure. I can't blame him for not trusting me, I would do the same if I was talking to a crank that I literally on the edge of being gone.

"I stand up and put LeAnn onto my homemade bed. "Get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a lot of walking." I say, pulling Peter up and sitting him next to LeAnn. He looks like he is about my age, 16. "Do you mind looking after LeAnn when you guys leave tomorrow?" I ask Peter. LeAnn has already fallen asleep, her small figure breathing deeply.

"Yea, I can. But aren't you coming with us?" Peter asks looking concerned. I kneel down on the floor, next to where he is sitting. I pull up my sleeve and show him the veins.

"I can't."I say before getting up and leaving. Before I close the door behind me, I turn around to see Peter holding LeAnn in his arms protectively, slowly drifting away. I smile and close the door. I wish I had an older brother.
