People running everywhere, shots being fired, bodies flying. It was a nightmare! The fire burned my eyes and my wound on my leg opened up again from being thrown so hard. Vince was at his truck getting his machine gun ready. Newt and Minho ran up beside Harriet and Sonya who were right next to Vince. Vince tossed Newt and Minho rifles and they started firing. I limped over to them and climbed into the trunk where Vince was getting his machine gun ready.

"Ash! Are you okay?" He asked, looking down at my leg and bending down to check it out.

"I'm fine! Just get this thing ready." He looked at me then hesitantly stood up and started working on the machine gun. I picked up a rifle and fired it at the WICKED guards coming towards us. They jumped behind rocks and trucks. One of the guards came up just a bit to throw a stun grenade at us.

I dived out of the truck to catch the grenade but right as I was about to throw it, an electric wave washed over me and everyone near the truck. Shaking in pain, we all fell to the ground, dropping out weapons. My hand slowly went to me back as I tried to grab a knife. I pulled one out and was about to stab to guard, but he caught my hand and turned my wrist. I yelled out in pain and dropped the knife. He didn't let go of my wrist but instead dragged me to the line of kids kneeling in front of the berg that just landed. He kicked me in the stomach and pulled my head up to see him. He scowled again and forced me to my knees, with my hands behind my back. I didn't have any knives left. Everything hurt and I felt like I was going to pass out, right onto the person next to me. I swayed, my eyes dropping but the kids next to me put his arms around me and steadied me. I looked up at him and realized it was Newt. To the other side of me, Minho was holding onto my back, making sure I didn't fall. Both of their eyes showed concern and fear.

Newt pulled my body closer to him and laid my head on his shoulder. He whispered to me quietly, "Stay awake."

Minho stayed close to me and kept his hand on my back, not letting go. His grip was tight and protective.

The berg door opened and Ava Paige stepped out. My whole body stiffened and my breath quickened. I shut my eyes, wishing to disappear.

"I'm glad you're safe." I opened my eyes, thinking that she was talking to me but she hasn't spotted me yet. She was talking to Teresa.

"Teresa?" Frypan said. You could hear the disappointment in his voice as Ava put an arm around her. I just rolled my eyes, I never liked her.

A WICKED guard pulled Minho's head down and scanned his neck for a tag. "A7." He yelled out and moved onto me. He pulled my head down and scanned my neck. "No tag." He let go and went to Newt, he was the last in line, "A5." The guard walked out of the circle and stood next to Janson.

"Where's Thomas?" He asks.

"Right here." Thomas asks, stepping out of the circle.

"Janson turned around to face him. He smiled and then punched him in the stomach. Thomas doubled over and Janson pushed him into the line.

Janson walked past Newt, passed me and just passed Minho when he stopped. He turned around and his eyes widened when he saw me.

"Ava, I think you may want to see this." He said backing up to be right in front of me. He smiled wickedly at me before grabbing my arm and pulling me up. Ava stepped up and her eyes widened. I could see water in her eyes, she was happy to see me. But I wasn't happy to see her. I kept a blank stare the whole time.

"Astrid?" She asked, putting her hands up to my face and forcing me to look in her eyes. "I thought you were dead!" She yelled out and pulled me into a hug. I was too weak to pull away, even though I desperately wanted too. She let go and looked me up and down. She looked down again and I followed her gaze. Her coat was stained red, from my blood. She looked back up to my face, her tears finally coming down.

She turned around to face the guards.

"Take her. She needs our help, she needs to survive." My eyes widened. I couldn't go back. I pulled away from her grip and stumbled back onto the ground. Minho caught me and Newt stood up in front of me.

"Move." Janson said, murder in his voice. Newt didn't even flinch when Janson brought his hand up to hit him. He stood his ground protecting me. Janson pulled out a gun and put it against Newt's head.

"Stop!" I shouted, standing up. Newt tried to push my back down, same with Minho but I wouldn't let them. I pushed Newt away from the gun and now the gun was at my head. Ava gasped and Janson put the gun away, grabbing my forearm and dragging my forward. I tripped over my feet but Janson didn't stop.

"Everyone stop!" Thomas yelled, standing up from his place. Janson dropped me to the ground and turned to face him. I pulled myself up to my knees and watched them talking but I couldn't hear anything. I was in pain and my head hurt from all the commotion.

Everything happened so fast. A car with Brenda and Jorge in it came out of nowhere and smashed something and it blew up. Minho ran to me and picked me up, bridal style. He started running and put me down behind a rock. Newt put his arm around my waist and he put my arm around his shoulders. I could barely stand, almost all my weight was on him. I looked up just in time to see a guard dragging Minho towards the berg. Thomas tried to run after him but Newt caught his wrist and dragged him to the floor. Jorge jumped up and held him back. Ava and Teresa were the last ones to board. Ava was crying as the doors closed. She watched me disappear and I watched her disappear. My mother was gone again. The women that cared for me when I was growing up. The women that always protected me no matter what. I may not have liked some of the things she did, especially the things for WICKED but she was still my mother. I wanted to see her again but at the same time, I wish I would never see her again.
