Keep going after him

ALEX POV ( damn it's been a long time )
( one week later)

One day everything was fine, then all of a sudden John is leaving. Forever.

I know I didn't mean everything I said that day. I was just angry and confused. Where was John that morning? What did I do wrong? Why did he leave me? The argument was pointless yet it changed everything.

I figured I would see him at school. Maybe we can clear things up. Maybe after a talk he can come back. He can bring his siblings if he wants. I just need him.

The past few nights were sleepless. I'm so use to having him to hold and protect. Everything reminds me of the one I lost. Fuck even the cereal box reminds be of him because he would always stare at the back every morning! I try to see him at school but i haven't found him. He hasn't been attending class and I've been worried. He told me not to look for him but that's all I want to do. I want to find him apologize and beg him to come back and-

" Mr. Hamilton pay attention." Says Mr. Washington as he stares at me from the white erase board. I nod and try to focus, but the only things that fill my head is John.

Why did you leave me?

What did I do wrong?

What can I do to get you back?

I was so into thought I jumped when the bell ranged for my next class. I slowly got up from my seat and was about to walk out the door until Mr. Washington stepped in front of me.
" Son come sit down, there is obviously something bothering you."

I usually hate it when he calls me son but I didn't really care, I needed someone to talk to.

He pulls up a chair in front of his desk and I sit down with my head low.

" Now, you are my top student Alexander, you usually are the only one who participates. I saw how unfocused you were and I wanted to check in on you. I know I joke around with you and pick on you for fun but I truly care about you."
( *sniff* I need a dad like that )

" I-I'm sorry Mr. Washington. So much has changed this week. You know John Laurens?"

Washington smiles. " Yes. The junior in the back of my class with many freckles who never pays attention."

" Hah..yeah. Crap Mr. Washington, I couldn't help but fall in love with him."

I look up at Washington to see a big goofy smile on his face. " Alexander I knew you were in love way before you even started talking to him."

I jolts up looking confused. What the fuck? " What do you mean?"

Washington laughs in front of me.
" Son why did you think I partnered you two up? I'm not gonna lie I do randomly pick people but I specifically partnered you two together. I'm a high school teacher, I see a bunch of signs when someone likes another." He stands up from his desk and walks over to Alex. " I saw how you use to tease the poor boy but you don't see me lookin at you staring at that boy in class and in the hallways."

I felt a little flustered that my own history teacher have caught me in the act of crushing on John. " Honestly Alexander, my wife and I made a bet about you two and many other students. I may be a grown man but I gossip like an 8th grader." Washington says with pride. I couldn't help but laugh at how goofy Washington was.

" Now. Was that what's bothering you?"

" Actually no. John and I started dating."

"Well that wonder-"

" But we broke up." I interrupted. Washington was silent for a moment then laughs.

" Ummm I'm sorry...what the fuck?" I say puzzled, not really understanding the situation.
Washington laughs harder to the point that he has tears in his eyes. I began to feel angry and started collecting my things to leave. " No no."
Washington stops. " Sit down. I wasn't laughing about the break up."

I slowly sit back down but I'm still a bit angry.
" I was laughing about what you're doing about it." He says more serious.

" Um what-"

" Alexander Hamilton. THE Alexander Hamilton just went through a breakup and is sulking all week and sobbing to his history teacher. Do you understand how sad that this. You are the toughest, smartest, sexiest guy I've ever seen! You are the second best guy in the world, next to me!"

I can't believe he just said that...

"When I was your age, I was the skinniest weirdest looking guy you ever seen! I only cared about books and test. Until I met my soulmate, who was the hottest chic in the 70's! She was truly hottest girl in town and let me tell you she passed out when I told her we were soulmates. She wanted to see if her key fitted in my heart just to make fun of me and seriously passed out when my heart actually opened. After that, every time she saw me she'd run away. So I said, ' You know what? I'm keep running for her!' I did that for 2 years! Son, TWO YEARS! She ended up falling for me and the rest is history. She now became my lovely pain in the ass wife."

I blankly stare at him, trying to process what he told me. " What does that have to do with John?"

" All I'm Say is if you truly love that person, go after him! Keep going after him until there is absolutely nothing you can do. Who knows, he might be your soulmate Alexander."

The bell rings as different students start to fill in the classroom seats. I am totally late for my next class, but honestly, it was worth it.

I'm going to get John back, no matter what it takes.

I honestly love this chapter. My baby finally has some determination!!
