Chapter Eleven, King of Dragons

"Believe me." She said looking at the two. "I tried as well but people are not capable of change, Hiccup, Elivra. Some of us were just born different." Valka told them as she started to tell them her story. "Berk was a land of kill-or-be-killed, but I believed peace was possible. It was a very unpopular opinion. Then, one night, a dragon broke into our house, Finding you in the cradle. I rushed to protect you. But what I saw was proof of everything I believed. This wasn't a vicious beast, but an intelligent, gentle creature, whose soul reflected my own. You and your father nearly died that night, all because I couldn't kill a dragon." Valka said sadly once she had finished telling her story to Hiccup and Elivra.

"It runs in the family." Hiccup told her.
"It broke my heart to stay away, but I believed you would be safer if I did." Valka apologised.
"How did you survive?" Elivra asked, wondering how Hiccup's mother had survived here for twenty years.
"Oh, Cloudjumper never meant to harm me." Valka assured. "He must have thought I belonged here. In the home of the Great Bewilderbeast. The alpha species." Valka said walking them to the edge of the cliff they were on where they saw the biggest dragon they had ever seen sitting in the water. It was white with two large tusks and spikes all over its head and back, the dragons that flew past stopped to bow down to the dragon. "One of the very few that still exist. Every nest has its queen, but this is the king of all dragons. With his icy breath this graceful giant built our nest. A safe haven for dragons everywhere."

"Wait, there the ice-spitter?" Elivra asked realising the ice they found came from this dragon, as they walked closer to the large dragon.
"He's responsible for all that destruction?" Hiccup asked catching on to Elivra's train of thought.
"He protects us." Valka argued. "We all live under his care and his command. All but the babies of course, who listen to no one!" Valka laughed as the baby dragons terrorise Toothless before going to jump on the Bewilderbeast after Cloudjumper and Volta scared them away from Toothless who had looked so confused. As the Giant Bewilderbeast stood up Valka bower down before him followed by Cloudjumper, Toothless and Volta. As Elivra and Toothless looked on amazed by this dragon.

"I've loved among them for twenty years, discovering their secrets." Valka told Hiccup and Elivra as she slowly stood back up. The Bewilderbeast came closer and blew an icy mist into Hiccup's and Elivra's hair turning them white. "He likes you two." Valka laughed.
"Wow!" The two young Vikings breathed as Elivra vanished the ice from their hair. "You two must be hungry." Valka stated walking back up the slope.
"Yeah I could eat and Liv needs to eat." Hiccup said sternly as he looked at Elivra with an eyebrow raised, she just sighed and nodded agreeing to get something to eat knowing she wouldn't win this.
"Good. It's feeding time." Valka told them happily leading back to the cliff they were on Volta and Toothless bounding among behind them excitedly while Cloudjumper just looked at them.

A few miles away the rest of the riders were sat on iceberg waiting for Stoick, Sirius and Gobber to return with Hiccup and Elivra but it has been nearly two days as the sun was beginning to set and there was still no sign of them. "I don't like it." Astrid told them looking off into the distance while the others sat around bored. "They should have been back with Hiccup and Elivra by now. And she doesn't have that many potions on her either."
But she was ignored as Ruffnutt started complaining about Eret being her true love and Snotlout and Fishlegs complaining that their affections were going unnoticed.

"What if Drago shot them down? What if they need our help?" Astrid continued her rant.
"Err, Sirius and Elivra have magic so they can do more than we ever could!" Fishlegs pointed out but yet again he was ignored.
"We have to find them." Astrid said looking in the other direction now, but still nothing.
"Wait, What? No, did you not just hear what I said. And Stoick said..."
"It doesn't matter what he said if they've all been captured!" Astrid snapped still not listening about the magic. "Come on!@ she said as she took off on Stormfly the others reluctantly following her, all wondering if Astrid's hot-headedness would get them in trouble.
